If Hunting and Angling Ended
There is no alternative funding system
in place to replace the potential lost
funds for conservation. If hunting and
angling end, funding for wildlife
conservation, including enforcement of
all wildlife laws, will be jeopardized.
Hunters, anglers and shooters actively
support wildlife conservation through
tangible actions such as buying licenses
and paying taxes on hunting, fishing and
shooting equipment. Why are hunters and
anglers so willing to support
conservation through their pocketbooks?
Because people place added value on ?
and are willing to pay for ? what they
can use. Given the rate of population
growth, particularly in western states,
the percentage of people participating
in hunting and fishing is decreasing.
Therefore, it is important to engage in
traditional outdoor recreational
activities and introduce others to these
opportunities.

Actually I was off early last year sitting at home hitting refresh on my puter...sad I know... Anyways it was at 3 ish. I checked my text messages to confirm. It will b around 3

Yes they are, indeed! I did not draw a deer tag or any sheep tag...

But I did draw a rifle elk tag and rifle pronghorn tag!

My Wyoming buddy drew an archery bull tag good from 8/25-9/16 for units 62, 64, 66-68. It was his second of five choices.

Congratulations Kilowatt and CA!
Two of the finer contributors to this forum in my book. I am hoping for a blow by blow account CA, much like your Utah Archery adventure.
No tags in Nevada, or anywhere thus far for me. Wyoming antelope is my only hope now...well Montana sheep but that's a dream!
I will be doing a bunch of vicarious hunting through guys like you.

I drew a 033 late deer tag. It's going to be hard to wait for this hunt to begin.

"Go hunt for meat at Walmart."

Nevada draw Unit 231

Hello New to posting on the forum...Life is funny. I have been trying to draw this tag for 10 years. I drew this tag this year as if by magic.. I am 61 years old and for a living I build Ice Roads up on the Beaufort sea for Exxon. It is Dark, Hard and Lonely work. What kept me going was every day for 10 minutes would picture drawing this tag, I have hunted a lot of muleys in Montana but never was a real horn hunter. Only harvesting mature bucks but have never harvested a 180 class plus buck, always taking a nice 4by 4. for meat. I live in alaska. and have world class fishing around me ie... , the bristol bay region and have intimate knowledge about certain aspects about hunting. I am not a guide!! I would be seriously interested in bartering information on a friendly basis. If you have any honest advice that could help me please contact me at

Been hunting in Nevada for 7 years now and my wife and I drew area 043 Early rifle for deer. I am familiar with the are and know of some spots to find some nice bucks. However, I am looking to find her a really nice buck as I know they reside in the are and was wondering if anyone had any tips or pointers of where to go or find info. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You

hcraig...where did you draw? As a start, go to the NDOW website and look up statastics on your area, success rates and hunt area description. Gives you a starting point.

from the "Heartland of Wyoming"

Thx Eel and others. Yes the Nevada Unit is 231. I choose the Unit originally based on the Huntinfools picks and also research I did on the internet and other forums.I also hauled Gold ore out of Ely Nevada for awhile so I never forgot the wonderment of Wild country and the hunting possibilities it brings. I know my goal oF a 180+ buck is realistic in this Unit. I plan on devoting myself to this and I will post the pictures when it happens. It is my vision Quest! Any help to that goal would greatly be appreciated. Thx Hcraig

Eelgrass...when I took a drive after my 2009 hunt for Lope I drove down thru 231 and there was a For Sale Sign I spotted that was for a small parcel in there and it was For Sale by Owner...phone number was 707 something. Turned out it was someone from Eureke area not sure if I wrote you then or not...
