Muley movement question

I'm from Texas and have been traveling to New Mexico off and on for about 15 years. In years past we just walked around till we saw a buck and shot him if we where lucky. I'm a little more patient now and I would like to hunt bigger bucks. I have the second rifle hunt for New Mexico 2B this year. It opens on the 29th of this month and the weather forcast is for cloudy with maybe rain. We will have a new moon I believe as well. I would like to try to glass up a good buck. How will these conditions affect deer movement? It seems like in the past, a couple of hours after sun up the deer would bed down. If it's overcast will the deer move all day. Thanks for any advice, I'm trying to get serious about mule deer hunting and leave the two points alone.

The deer will 'move' a little more either just before or just after a storm.

Unless they've been 'holed up' for several days (due to said storm), don't expect the difference to be dramatic.

Deer are crepuscular, rather than nocturnal, which means their periods of peak activity are in low-light conditions. When overcast and cool conditions bring an 'earlier' evening or 'later' morning, the deer will behave accordingly.

That late in the month (at least here in southern Idaho), the bucks will be a little less furtive, because they are starting to act 'rutty'.

GOOD LUCK

Within the shadows, go quietly.

I have seen a lot more all day movement in 2B when it is cloudy versus when it is sunny, so I would be glassing all day. I am not sure if the new moon will help all day movement or not, but it likely will help movement early and late in the day.
