Let's keep this positive
It was always a wonder to me if one of the great bucks would get bested. Not only was he harvested but it couldn't have been by a better guy! Hobbs kills slobs! Its amazing to see what a bad winter in Wyoming did to the antler growth. This is. A prime example.

A big congrats to Travis Hobbs for making it happen!

Anyone else been seeing deer from last year harvested that are smaller this year?

That is a GREAT buck too bad he won't be around for the rut this year! He is a bit smaller but still huge. Congrats to the hunter.

Big difference in antler size. Still a fantastic buck, but big difference. Congrats to the hunter though. Real special trophy.

I think it was a combination of the bucks age and the harsh winter but mostly his age. He peaked 2 years ago. He came back smaller after the easy winter last year too.

Sounds like he would have been a nice one any of the last few years.

Congrats to the hunter!

The cool part of it all is everyone got to see this buck reach his full potential before he was harvested. Definitely a cool ending to his final chapter.

Congrats. And way to go Travis, To me that is what Mule Deer hunting is all about. This deer is approaching 8-10 years old. If I had it my way there would be a law against shooting a buck that is not mature. If folks would quit shooting 1-4 year old bucks you would be amazed how many big deer there would be. We still have some good genetics we just need to let them mature.

One in a Billion that Lived Long enough to Regress just a little!

Nice Job!

Back Me Off to 1,700 Yards,650 is a Little Close & I'm Not Comfortable with it!

A GUT SHOT at 1,700 Yards will Still Make Some Good BRAGGIN Rights so I Can Say I At Least Hit Him!

He was an incredible buck, but I don't think the winter had much to do with his horn growth. He can't be a 240" deer for 4 years, he is old and was bound to regress. That leaves one winter range giant left unaccounted for, hope to see him again this winter still, or preferably in the next 4 days...

Great deer!!once in a Life time buck!! Well.. . For most.. definitely declining . Glad someone got to take him.

Still a great looking buck, Better that a good hunter took him instead of him becoming cat food or a road kill.

Awesome buck and cool to know some of the history.

He looks like he could have lost 30-40" of last year's antlers. Anyone know what the year to year comparison is?
