THIS BULL IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE NEW UTAH TYPICAL STATE RECORD. I THINK IT WENT 416 GROSS AND 402 4/8 NET.

Whopper of a bull there.

The show said it scored 416 gross and 403 net. I thought I had heard here that the new State recoed was off of Indian Peaks, but the guy was not letting people take pics of it yet.
Great bull, to bad the kid never scouted it out and hunted for it, he just had someone drive himm to it and he shot it, really great hunting skills

tallelkman, so what you are telling me is; If your father-in-law or your buddy knew were a State record elk was or even a high scoring elk was that you would just say "No, I'm a better hunter then that, I don't even want to know." I say BULL$*@% :)

The hunter was not tiped by a family member or someone he hunted with it was just a person that found out he had a tag, Man it would really br fun to go to Harware Ranch and shot elk to. I would hope that I had scouted out the bull in the summer and fall before my hunt, put a little effort into, sure he got a great bull, but what a story, I heard there was a big one and I went up and killed it, lots of excitment. No different that going to an elk farm and shooting the big one.

Look at the size of those seconds and thirds! Absolutely incredible bull!

All this talk of he just drove up and shot it is a bunch of BS. Utah's system is such that every single person that draws now has a shot a one of these bulls.

Some will spend more money, some will spend the time and unbelievable effort, others are simply lucky. Every person who shoots a new state record is the beneficiary of our states once in a lifetime program. Places like the Pahvant, that has 1500 elk, 29 hunters, all in 35 x 120 miles is the reason for these monsters.

Please stop the slams on these guys. You may be the next one when you draw your dream hunt and someone tells you they saw a monster over that thar hill.

Cheers,
Pete

Sounds like tallelkman has some hunting form of "penis envy". When you draw a tag, you network to get as much info as possible. On doug miller he gave credit to the 2 guys that helped him. If you are so good, I guess that you don't use maps or directions, hike from your house, shoot the bull with a traditional recurve, spend 2 months in the woods, pack the meat yourself, you get the point.

Congrats to the kid for a great bull.....

I watched the story on Sat. night and the bull was found by a bowhunter in a spike unit if I remember right. Then they found the guy with the LE tag and put him on the bull. To the kids credit he did give the the guys credit that found the bull and offered to show him the opportunity to take him.

I watched Doug miller too as I do every saturday night. I also remember him giving credit where credit was due. One hell of a bull though wasn't it. Too bad he wasnt' a little more symetrical though. That is the kind of bull all of us dream about! What a lucky bastard!

I didn't watch the show but I was impressed with the bulls so I shared it with everybody. The hunting story is a little dumb considering how much time most of us spend for our hunts. I wouldn't complain if somebody took me to a trophy animal but it wouldn't be my typical dream hunt. Basically put, I would be happy with the animal just not the way it was taken. I prefer doing things the old fashion way with regards to hard work and dedication, but even with all that a little luck goes along way.

Oh by the way the $160 volcano cookers given to each weeks winners work great. My brother just picked his up and I'm going to use it more then my camp chef stove.

That is one hell of a bull. Is it a five point on the one side?

You guys can say what ya want. If someone was willing to help me out I would take it without question. Sometimes a little help goes a long ways. A unit the size of the Manti would be awful tough for one guy to scout effectively in one summer. It bothers me not at all he had help.
