I'm new to elk hunting 2yrs but have you seen in the new proclamation, some units no kill unless its a 6 and in other units a 5 what does everyone think about the new guide lines? Is it good or Bad?
I love point restrictions, the tougher the better. Makes gun hunters much more carefull when they shoot, causing less wounded game. Allos far more game to mature and thus have bigger antlers.
As long as shoot first and count points later does not result in wasted game I love them. All info I have read has shown this does not happen very often.
Look at the deer hunting in PA, it worked great at allowing bucks to live longer.
I agree. We all want a quality hunt experience. And if we say we hunt because of the challenge and it doesn't matter if we do or don't fill a tag, restrictions like this make the experience more challenging and enjoyable (hopefully getting to see more game).
I agree,though my first 2yrs were challenging I covered alot of ground,and very little action.But I think if you draw into the better units you would be more apt to see more elk, which that would do it for me at this point.
