startin to scout for next years elk hunt...nothing serious but just impressions of diamond creek unit in idaho for archery elk and possibly deer....thanks...as i said this is just research at this point...

You have a lot of country to cover. I hunt deer there every year and take something out each year. There are some great areas to hunt. can't get really specific about where I hunt but there is a good elk herd in there and the deer are plentiful also. I have seen several nice bulls and am trying to get drawn for a rifle hunt as I don't have a bow for archery. It's a good area to hunt

It is indeed a great unit with some great deer and elk. There is a lot of pressure as compared to other Idaho units. Good luck to you.

Good elk numbners, few but some nice deer. Elk are very bugle shy and tons of archery hunters. Many archery hunters that I talked to this year are looking for less crowded areas. Good luck.

Leave your calls at home and take your tree stand. Chase bugles and sit on water and wallows. Hunted it for three years we killed two 330" bulls and a five. Forget calling! Just hunt! We wasted the first four or five days of our first hunt trying to call bulls. Once we left our calls in camp and just hunted we got into bulls. I won't go back way to many hunters. Look for a different unit if you like to call bulls.
