What a roller coaster season. I missed two bulls, including a 6-point, before realizing my scope was off. As I missed the 6, my buddy nailed a real nice 5. Another friend brought in his horses and we lost his dog. Spent the next two days looking for the dog instead of elk hunting. When this raggy 5 popped up, I decided he was good enough. Next day, we went out and I was able to take a pretty nice general season buck. He goes about 165 but is really massive, dark and balanced. Gorgeous buck. Live weight on him was approximately 270 lbs. Check out his neck! It was a pretty wild and, at times, a frustrating season, but in the end, for general season tags, we did pretty well and had a good, body-abusing season. Hope you will enjoy.

Big ol' neck on that buck, looks like a fine buck,
Next time ya loose the dog, move on, I'm sure the local pound has free ones that can both walk & hear. you can't replace good hunting days, infact next time you go hunting leave the dog home.

Nice animals did you find the dog? I know if I lost my dogs I better not go home my wife would be hunting me. lol

That's a great buck!! Good job....and congrats on your guys' bulls too.

Thanks for the comments. Yes, we did find the dog, not thirty seconds after I dropped the hammer on my bull. It went from a pretty dreary day to much happier real quick.

Beautiful Buck! At least you got to seem some animals with bones on their heads. And shooters at that. Here in Utah, we only get to see females running everywhere with fawns/calves.

IdahoNative,

Congrats on some good trophies. The neck on the buck is awesome I hope you saved the cape on him.

How did schumway (sp?) do this year? Anyway talk to you later.

Hey, how ya doin'!Thought I recognized you. Dan was on a nice buck that was running with another smaller buck. By the time he got in position, he only had a second and mistakenly shot the wrong one :) Couldn't happen to a nicer guy :) The big one was 28", he shot a 21" from a side view just looking at forks. He did drop a small 6-point bull though. Dan and I have more cursed luck that way than just about anyone I know. OR maybe we are just the biggest BS'ers! You should email me. Curious what unit you got your buck in, though I think I know. Maybe we can swap some specifics. Glad you had a great hunt.
P.S. I did save the cape on him. He's going on my uncle's non-typical.

Thanks for the pics. I wouldn't be disapointed with the deer. I settled on a much smaller one on the last afternoon that I was able to hunt during rifle season.
