Those are 2 awesome deer, and 2 awesome photos!! I like the picture of the typical with his lower teeth showing. It is kind of cool. Sure looks like a very happy hunter. Congratulations to both hunters!

That top buck has some of the best back forks I've seen! Talk about my dream Buck! Except with double droppers that each are 15" long and taper out into a big nob on the end. Now that would be my DREAM buck! Congrats!

Michael~All Gods creatures welcome... right next to the mashed potatoes and gravy.

The hunters: Brent Hill and Dave Nygaard were both pumped. The guide pictured Mark Bolenger had pre scouted the typical buck and knows the area well. I was lucky to tag along and glass. These are really nice bucks and each has its own great characteristics. I havent heard what other deer have been shot but Duwane Adams was on a monster when I left and I expect Richard Fesendent and his buddy both shot good ones. Hopefully I hear soon. Congrats again to Brent and Dave............ Allen Taylor......

The reason I like to see the teeth in the pics is you can get some sort of idea to the age and condition of the buck.

The buck in the first picture was obviously in his prime and had several more years to grow.

SAWEEEEET! Incredible looking bucks. Congrats to the hunters and thanks for sharing the monsters with us!
That typical came out of my dreams.
Best,
Jerry

Ditto to the hunters looking like they had a blast, It kind of annoys me when I see a hunter with a monster buck & they can't even muster up a smile, with a smug look on their face as if to say, yeah I shoot bucks this size all the time & I'm way to cool to act like I'm excited.

Mmmmmmm.....Kaibab....

Thanks for the story and the pics Bura. Don't forget to post em up again in May to get us pumped in the off season!

I've had the pleasure of hunting with Brent Hill,he's an exceptional hunter and a great guy, well deserved my friend, Bill

Hi Everybody:

This is Brent, the shooter of the non-typical. Thanks to Allen for getting the pics posted so quickly. I appreciate all the "congrats." To say the least, I am very stoked. More like a kid on Christmas. It was a great experience!

At the end of my trip, I felt honored to have hunted in the Kaibab. And, I have a new appreciation for the AZ residents. All of them were quality people with firm handshakes. I thought I might catch some negative action being that I'm a non-res and drew that insane tag in a year full of guber bullchit. I think the residents are getting hosed. I feel very grateful to have drawn. But, I'm sensitive to what's happened.

I hired a guide with mixed emotions. I like to hunt hard myself and was uncomfortable thinking that I would just be following a guide through the mountains. But, I knew I wouldn't have time to scout with a busy schedule, and I wanted to do the tag justice. Well, I now feel that my decision was an absolute blessing. Not because I shot a bruiser, because I came home with a wealth of knowledge. And, my incredible guide, Mark Boulanger, was a perfect match for me. He made it feel like a team effort. However, Mark did the scouting. Mark glassed up that buck. He should be proud. I was just the lucky guy that got to pull the trigger.

I know Allen has done a fine job pimping Duwane Adams. I read his posts. Well, I now know what drives BuraNut nutty. I drank the Koolaid too. Not only is Duwane a phenomenal guide, he's an outstandingly cool person. And, his books are awesome. I have his Kaibab book and his Coues book. That's probably why his name popped up in my head when I drew that tag. If you haven't bought his books yet, they'd make a great Christmas gift for yourself.

Sorry for the exhausting post. I'm just really jacked.

Also, congrats to Dana Yount for drilling an incredibly awesome buck. I was there when he caped the head and scored it. We were trippin' out when the score added up to 220, unofficially. I hope you guys get to see the photos of that buck.

Okay, back out to the garage to check on the rack again. Good hunting to you all.

Brent

Lets give credit were credit is due.
It looks like the folks managing the Kaibab deer herd are doing a fine job.
Great bucks!

The folks managing the herd are in large part the hunters who are giving up tag opportunities each year in lieu of older age class bucks and few tags on this unit. AZGFD needs to kill alot less does on the Kaibab and still limit the buck tags for the future........Brent Hill and Dave Nygaard got to see the some hogs and know with continued management this area will always be good....... Allen Taylor......

Brent... I love the E shaped kickers on your buck man... really give him some major personality!!!

Congrats,

Jesse
