Was just getting ready to send you a PM.

Sad deal. Prayers going up.

"If the DWR was just doing its job, and
wildlife and hunting were the actual focus,
none of this process would even matter.
But that is not the focus or the goal in any
of this. The current DWR regime, and
SFW were born out of wildlife declines,
and are currently operated and funded
under that paradigm. Those 200 Expo
tags would not even be worth anything if
the focus was where it was supposed to
be, and wildlife and tags were plentiful.
But under the current business model,
that is how the money and power is
generated. It is generated through the
rising "value"(monitization) of a declining
resource. A resource that is supposed to
be being beneficially managed for the
masses that own that resource, ie. US.
The problem is obvious, hedging is not a
long term sustainable strategy, and
others have to lose, for some to win. In
this case it is us, the many, and our
resources, that are being forced to lose,
because there is a minority who's power
and money is derived from our loses."

A bad wake up call to stop letting under aged and unqualified youth behind the wheel.
Sad deal, my heart goes out to Will's family and the poor driver that caused the accident.

There's always next year

Regular cars and trucks kill more than wheelers. Don't let your hatred for the machine cloud making intelligent remarks. Gonna blame the machine now. Typical of you.

Very sad. I met a will one time and he seemed like a good guy. Condolences to the family.

Doesn't matter who it is Bob. The fact remains whether it's guns, knives, bows, vehicles, wheelers....misuse is the cause of misfortune. As a father, I must accept the fact that if you're gonna play, there's a price for admission. I can do everything in my power to try to ensure safety. But if misuse, and inexperience is the cause of the accident, can't really blame the tool.

So back to your statement about if it were my kid....

Well, I'd suppose you'd agree with how Jim Brady's family feels then? Sarah Brady is right on track? Correct?

Not a great time to debate a pretty stupid issue. A family lost their brother, father, son, friend.

IMHO it is understandable to want to make a statement on the safety of atv's/utv's. I vividly remember when Paul/sandman lost his life lion hunting after rolling his bike coming down a pretty steep hill.

I'm NOT standing in judgement of the youth who was behind the wheel because he'll do too much of that over the years but....

When you combine speed, dicey terrain and inexperience, you have won the crash trifecta!

Too bad for the family and one of our own was lost.

+ 1 Zeke Roll cages are great along as you have your seat belt on and stay inside them ! I am as guilty as the next guy. I was on my way home from the mountain when I heard about the accident. Of course I was riding a side x side without my seat belt all weekend. I think this will changes my ways. Wear your seat belts guys. In your trucks and on your off road vehicles. I will miss seeing Will and Heather hunting together. It seems that one name doesn't go without the other. God bless you Will and Heather !!!

I've got a close friend who nearly lost her foot in a side by side rollover. Like this accident being discussed a young person was at the controls, people may wish to think hard about how to teach a first time user about hazards. When this side by side rolled Michelle put her foot out which is a common reaction but should not happen. The machine rolled over her foot and broke every bone and tore many ligmanents so badly the doctors wanted to amputate, Michelle would not let them do that and after one year of many surgeries and therapy She is walking.

Michelle and her husband put half doors on the machine after this accident, the hope is that they will prevent a person from putting their leg outside the machine and increasing the severity of injury.

Be safe.

Very sad and a good reminder. Prayers go out to his family.

Ridgetop...DB comment.

About junior drivers.....

I was in Nevada a couple weeks ago scouting, sometimes you let the youth drive the Ranger to teach them better driving skills....in this case I let my 15 y,o, drive the machine to start learning to drive a car. We're going down a bladed road at 30 mph and some a-hole decides to pass us at 50+ mph with a trailer of ATVs and pulls over a mile ahead to unload....almost ran my inexperienced son off the road, soiled my pants.

From years of off-road experience....accidents are going to happen...it's just a matter of time, not necessarily negligence. Need a lot of foresight when teaching a beginner..and a lot of patience...everyone learns to drive sooner or later.

Everyone have a safe productive season!
