i'm looking for info on vortex optics if anyone has them or used them and what they think.thanks

Haven't used them out in the field much yet, but from what I can tell around the yard they're going to give everbody a run for their money.

The 10x42 Razors retail for just over $700.00 and they're hanging right there with my $1900.00 Swarovski ELs.....

I can't see $1200 worth of difference!

I checked them out for the first time today and I was VERY impressed. I think I am getting some new optics soon :).

check out the vortex 10 x 42 sidewinder. i got a pair and will never give them up. i bang binos around and for 200.00 plus a lifetime warranty, how can you go wrong.

Put a pair of 10x42 Razors to work and have to say that they are likely the best value in the optics market right now! They're worth every penny when compared to the optical qualities of binos costing a $1000 more!

Just put the 80mm spotting scope to work on some elk. Awesome glass that could likely cost hundreds more for the quality. They've also got a carbon tripod that retails for over just $300, and includes a fluid head!!! W/O a doubt the best value in the optics market right now!

How does the Vortex 20-60x80mm compare with a Nikon Sky and Earth 20-60x80mm?

Funny you should ask, I just replaced my Nikon of the same model with the Vortex and was blown away with the quality. The field of view at higher power is much greater with the Vortex. The optics are brighter and clearer with better color definition on the Vortex as well. I could not be happier with the scope! By the way, I bought it from good ol' Doug at Cameraland.

Has anyone compared the Impact scope to the Nomad and Skyline in the field? Is the cost difference equal to the quality difference? Is the optic quality of the Impact worse than the Nomad and Skyline? Is there any Impact owners that recommend the scope or would you opt for the more expensive Vortex scopes?

I JUST BOUGHT THE SKYLINE AND THE NOMAD
SCOPES, ALSO THE CARBON FIBER TRIPOD.
GREAT GLASS FOR THE MONEY, I COMPARED
THEM WITH A 12-40 60MM GOLD RING LEUPOLD,
VORTEX MAY BE A LITTLE BETTER?
BY THE WAY I AM SELLING THE LEUPOLD

I would go with the Skyline or Nomad unless you're just looking for an extra small compact scope-which the Impact is.

The 80mm Skyline is incredible for the money, and the ED version should be as well. The Skyline will hold its own against scopes costing thousands more.

If you want to look at them in Utah there are several new dealers that are now carrying Vortex.

THE DIFFERENCE IN THE SKYLINE AND THE NOMAD IS JUST THE
80MM AND THE 60MM IS THE NOMAD, THE SKYLINE WILL BE
AVAILABLE IN ED WHICH MEANS HD , YOU WILL HAVE TO ASK PRISM
IF THE NOMAD 60MM WILL BE AVAILABLE IN ED,
THERE IS A DEALER IN NORTHERN UTAH IN TREMONTON ALSO, IF
YOU LIVE CLOSE.

I am also interested in the Impact - has anyone out there taken a look through one of these? The size, weight, and price all seem right...

I just ordered the compact vortex impact (25-75x70) from Doug - shot show sample for $129. If anyone is interested let me know and I'll give you my thoughts when it arrives.

Just got it 2 days ago from Doug. Definitely a good spotter for the money - got one of the shot show samples for $129. Past 55-60x it gets a little fuzzy, but I expected that. It's a perfect scope if you are looking for something compact and lightweight, which is exactly what I wanted for packing around while elk hunting. It beats the heck out of my burris, which will be going on ebay this weekend. I think its a great scope, especially considering the price. Let me know if you have more questions.

A buddy just got some Vortex glass for a gift from his wife. I havn't looked through em yet but he says they are fantastic. Got em for around 500. I think I need to look at these.

I hear that the Razors are marginally better then the Vipers, anyone have any insight on this?

best bang for the buck when it comes to glass. I have the 12x50 vultures and love them. I HIGHLY recomend them.
