Monroe mountain

Was looking for some help on which would be the best route to pull a camper trailer up the mountain. Never set foot on the mountain, are there plenty of undeveloped campsites up there?

I'd say the Lower Box Creek Road just north of Greenwich is the best for trailers. The others are pretty steep and narrow.
There is lots of undeveloped camping on top but you will run into some local homesteading camps for sure.
Good Luck!

I pulled a 14 foot trailer up the road east of Koosharem. Many nice places to camp up there. That road is okay, at least if it is dry, but there are a few places where the road is narrow with blind turns and a ditch that goes pretty much straight down down about 500 feet. I would not do that if there was snow or ice on that road.

Thank you guys for the replies. Is there still snow up on top? How is the fishing on some of those lakes and streams?

Either of the two road mentioned previously are both good mountain roads. There are numerous other roads that go up onto the Monroe, NONE of the other's are ideal for pulling a trailer up. Yes, people do it but it very slow and 2lumpy. :)

There are lots of places to camp. There are no commercial or State designated camp grounds on top, just pick a spot and set up camp.

Very few streams to fish, no good streams with fish. Reservoirs with fish:

Lower Box Creek
Upper Box Creek
Manning (closed until July 1st, I think)
Barney
Big Lake
Deep Lake

My family has property right at the top of the mountain on the peak and the east side. I take my trailer up the BoX creek road just out of Greenwhich. My trailer is a 28 footer. It takes a good 40 minutes. BUT WELL WORTH IT!!! Fishing can be great depending on when you go.

Manning isnt open until 3rd Sat in JULY.
