Anyone have this LATE SEASON tag? My friends son was the only NR to have tag and is on his way home now, guess he got a 4x4 but don't know how big yet.
He told his dad over the phone that there were Bucks all over the area........lots of them.

How many Residents drew this tag?

I think there were 10 resident tags and 1 NR tag. I am curious about this hunt. I would really like to hear/see what kind of bucks folks were killing.

I have a cow elk tag in this area. Did your friends' son run into any elk? I'm a NR as well. Any info would be GREATLY appreciated!!

I drew this tag a few years ago. I saw more elk than deer. It was hot and dry. Colorado had very little snow and the deer simply had not begun to migrate. With weather like today (very snowy) the Dolores might be good but that is the rub. Very weather dependent. If late season hunts are your goal start putting in for Colorado because in most units you can hunt most of the herds range; high or low.

He got a decent 4x4 Buck on the hunt but asked me NOT to post if memory serves me right. I will ask him again and see what he says. The hunter had already been on 2 or 3 other hunts and just wanted a decent buck and go home and his JOB before fireworks started. LOL

Here is a picture of the Buck that he took after 4-1/2 days, it was one of the better ones but seen a few bigger big too far away for a shot and all wide open space I guess.
As for elk, he said they never seen or saw any ELK at all which was a supprise to them.

My buddy had this tag this year. He shot a nice buck. It was a mainframe 4 point about 27 wide. I believe it had some extras on it as well. Real nice buck if I recall it scored around 180, maybe a little more.
