LAST EDITED ON May-13-19 AT 03:20PM (MST)[p]I got a com-a-long at the house if that stick is too deep? Relax tagsoup, the draw is still 3 weeks away, I'm bored and it struck me funny. If you didnt like it you could have just not read it or not logged in. Pretty simple. :D

I thought it was funny but unfortunately true. How about the "I burned by 20 PP on Unit X but ..........."

I will help the hunter out with info if I can. I spent about 9 weeks in unit 61 over three years prior to my unit 61 hunt (tag went unfilled) and got alot of great advice sharing info with monster muley members, even made some friends.

I shot the only one left in the unit last year! Didn't you see it?
Sorry to say but you wasted 22 points.

FELLAS...?..IT REALLY HELPS IF YOU BRING YOUR SENSE OF HUMOR TO THESE HUNTING THREADS, AND GET A LAUGH OR TWO OUT OF THE DEAL !!!

I BOTH MARVEL & LAUGH WHEN A NEWBIE INFO A 375 INCH BULL OR A 190 BUCK...?.IT IS ENTERTAINING TO HEAR THE COMMENTS. HOPE YOU DRAW...???...YD.

LAST EDITED ON May-14-19 AT 06:43AM (MST)[p]Hey, not looking for honeyholes but would anyone mind simply telling me all the totally crappy public land spots that have no game and which I should definitely avoid? ;-)

>You guys are sure unfriendly and
>unhelpful.

Don't let that stop you from asking. Some here are looking for help and some are looking to help. The rest are here for their vanity. Likewise I hope they aren't deturd because the internet is far more interesting becuse of narcissistic egomaniacs.

Always funny reading those posts and the responses to them. The guy usually disappears after the harassment of being a first time poster. ?

You?re so right

I like to test em first, see if they're at least willing to do a little work. A first timer not long ago came in and asked about 201, I suggested he search the forum on old posts regarding 201 and PM those that have hunted it in the past. I hunted it a few years ago and posted about it here, needless to say I didn't get a pm.

In case any 1 post wonders wonder what we see when they post that kind of questions. Life ain't easy, there are no shortcuts for those that want quality. So I don't go out of my way to help those that come across that way. So if you want some help, and not a gift, then you are more likely to get my and others help.

Nailed it!!!!

I've been bracing myself for sometime now.
First the Utah draw with 22 nonresident deer points.
Now getting ready for the resident Nevada draw on the 24th. ( I should draw something there )
Then soon after that the Colorado results will be out. 15 non res deer points.
Just got my buck deer application done for Arizona.
Idaho application period is open but waiting for the Nevada and Colorado results first.
And I only have 11 more working days before I retire from the state of Nevada.
So yeah there is a very high level of anxiety going on with me right now.

Good luck to everyone in the draws and happy hunting

Thanks YD good luck to you too.

DW this is a fun topic.
There is March madness in college basketball but this hunt draw madness goes on for months and months doesn't it?

Lol! Yes it does!

If I draw , I was just wondering if the guys that did not draw could meet me at the unit, I am trying to set a new world record for the biggest deer drive in history.

Whoa now how about we tone it down and we will all be ?spotters? for you.

Coloradoboy

Thanks Cole , you are right , we should put spotters around the whole unit for the first couple of days, if nothing seen- then let the massive drive begin

I love your posts... makes me laugh...

I agree that helping a first time poster would be tough, but seriously though, if you have been saving a lifetime of points to hunt a select unit, how the hell would you know where to start without asking for some guidance? I don't know anyone on here that is hunting fourth season bucks or early season limited rifle bulls in the same unit every year, or every five years for that matter- those opportunities are rare.

In a regular leftover tag unit, a unit I have poured multiple seasons into learning and patterning elk, I grudgingly ended up sharing one of my "honeyholes" through unforeseen circumstances. As a result I now have a solid hunting friend that has helped me and my family out multiple times without fail- like drop everything he's doing and brings the cavalry to help. This wouldn't have happened without giving in and helping the first go around.

Cheers- Dave

If someone has saved a lifetime of points, at least in Colorado, they should know when they are getting close to drawing and can start their research a couple years early. Heck, that is a lot of the fun of dreaming about a hunt like that. But when you have saved a lifetime of points and AFTER you draw, your first post on here is asking where you should hunt...??.

Like you, I have made some great friends through sharing hunting tips and trips. I am a NR in Colorado, but I can think of 8 guys that live in the area I hunt in Colorado that I have developed a friendship with over the year and anyone of them would help me any time I ask! That is really the point of this thread: Spend some time developing relationships with guys that know what you want to know. You do that, and guys will line up to help you.

I saw someone post who expects to get a tag i have thought about getting... so i said shoot me a pm. Someone else pm'ed me with " i saw you offered help to someone else with this tag"...

Someone else was askin about unit i live in, so i responded and started some pm's. He asked me about 20 questions over several mssgs WITHOUT EVEN TELLING ME HIS NAME OR WHERE HE IS FROM. Then he s aking me about private land access, for his party of three hunters! I ve lived here for 15 yrs and hunted 3 different owners' private land but why the hell would i give some guy any info related to my relationships? He should be wary of any info i give him.

It is hard to just not respond, as i would like to help -
especially in areas i have knowledge of but dont really need to guard for the future or other reasons... but some people pull a little too hard if offered a little free info!

Well boys, when I finally draw my moose tag you can bet your azz I'm going to ask for help. Bold and all cap's. :)

So lets review,
1. I'm going to look for sympathy because of all the points it took me
2. I'm going to apologize for not being able to scout. For me this will be because I'm old.
3. Im going to specifically not ask for honey holes. Map scans would ge nice though.
4. Im going to ask if anyone knows anybody who had the tag before. PM's of course.
5. I'm going to ask for outfitters to stay away from. People with bad experiences will for sure tell me where not to go
6. Im going to ask if anyone knows of any old widow women who own ranches :)
7. Me being ethical and all, I will talk about how I never shoot past 2 canyons away
8. Oh, and I'm going to ask if a 270 is enough gun (is was my granddaddys, RIP)

Anything else?
