Apprentice Hunt Applications

Couple of questions in case anyone might know.

Does putting in for an apprentice hunt on 1st deer app va the 2nd change anything as far as odds for the kid?

Also anyone know the exact minimum age for the apprentice hunts? Is it 12 for deer, elk and pronghorn? Frustrating that is says "Applicants must be under 18 and posses a Junior Hunting License" but does not say what the MINIMUM AGE IS!

From the regulations...
Applicants for deer tags must be at least 12 years of age on or before July 1, of the license year for which they are applying or at the time of application if they are applying after July 1.

You must be 16 years old to apply for sheep though...

It is also under 18 at the time of draw, they can actually be 19 when they hunt.

Under 18 at the application deadline. Can be 18 when they hunt. Can't hunt as a junior at 19.

DFG told me that applying on the 2nd deer application would give the same odds as applying on 1st deer app for apprentice hunts. That is pretty interesting.

I guess it makes sense to apply for the apprentice hunts on both apps then. Then that would lead me to believe that a kid could draw two apprentice deer hunts in the same year?

Ok so guys from DFG called me since I was emailing so many questions lol.

So just for future reference

1 - Your odds are not any worse when applying for an apprentice hunt on the 2nd application vs the 1st. Logic is that they want to give kids the chance to hunt with adults and want them to apply for regular units on 1st deer and still have same odds for apprentice hunt when using the 2nd deer app for those.

2 - If you draw an apprentice hunt as a 1st choice on the 2nd deer app, you do not get a pref point. Only way to get a pref point is to not draw either 1st choice and draw your 2nd choice. Even though technically you could draw an apprentice hunt as a 2nd choice, all 1st choices are looked at first so very unlikely.

3 - You cannot draw two apprentice hunts in the same year.
