OK guys here it is.
For all those who need that magic Hunter Ed bonus point the last hunter ed class my team is doing this year is on April 5th here in Kingman.
Here are some real interesting stats when it comes to non-residents who are applying for those premium deer and even sheep tags in Arizona.
Right now the maximum bonus points for deer in AZ is 11. There are 11 residents who have them. There are 179 NR who have the max.
Those who have 10 points, include 166 AZ residents and 694 NR. Of that total, 681 are missing only the AZ Hunter Ed point to get in that magic max bonus point pool. Wanna guess what group makes up that 681?
For those in the know, if you want to draw a Unit 12A West or East LATE tag, a 13A or 13B or a LATE 12B tag and you are a non-resident, the only way you're gonna have a crack at it is to be in the max bonus point pool.
I've discussed this many, many times on this forum.
If you just want to go deer hunting in AZ, then you can draw with few if any points.
For the sheep guys, there are 359 AZ residents who have the maximum 19 bonus points, while 13 NR's have the maximum points.
There are 327 resident and 39 NR who have 18 bonus points. Of that total, 82 are only missing the AZ Hunter Ed point.
This class, if you take and pass it, will get you a PERMANENT bonus point for sheep, deer, elk, antelope, buffalo, turkey and javelina!
By the way, we are located in Kingman, which is about a two-hour drive from Las Vegas. Many fly into Vegas on Friday, rent a car, and drive down to stay at a local motel. If you drive in on Saturday morning, remember there is an hour's difference and if you're that late, you just might not graduate.
Anyway here is what you have to do to get in this class.
The first thing is that you must have taken and passed a hunter ed class in your home state. That is the state's rule--not mine- so don't whine and cry to me and say you're 65 years-old and don't have hunter ed in your home state. Doesn't matter. If you want to take the 1-day (12 hour) class, then you have to have that card.
Now you must register with Mr. Dave Williams at the AZ G&F Dept. in Phoenix. His office number is 623-236-7434.
He will need you to FAX him your Hunter Ed card and then he'll put you on the list. Don't just show up on April 5th cause if you're not on the list I get from G&F , then you'll not get a card at the end of the day!
Hope this helps and if you need a motel room, then I have a deal with a local motel (Silver Queen) 928-757-4315 who will give you a small discount if you tell then you are taking the AZ Hunter Education class.
I always have room for one person who'd like to stay in our spare room, or a couple of folks who can stay in my 5th wheel trailer that's next to the house. Page and I always enjoy the out of town company!
If you need any more info, e-mail me at [email protected] or call me at 928-681-4867.
See 'ya next month!
