Nice management buck!

Does anyone know if this is The type of deer that you could expect to find on the pauns management hunt?

yeah this is the deer you usually see, i live down here. they get bigger but usually good old deer like these

Please elaborate on management buck; just because it's a 3x4? I've seen a lot of 4x4s that are lesser deer.

Within the shadows, go quietly.

A management buck is a buck deer with 3 points or fewer on at least one
antler. Points are counted above the first fork and don't include the eye
guard, which isn't considered a point. A point is a projection that's longer
than one inch, measured from its base to its tip, including damaged or
broken antlers. A broken point will count if it is one inch or longer.

This unit has a special hunt for a "management buck" and according to the regs, if you draw this tag, you can only take a buck that has 3 points or less above the eyeguard on one side. The other side can have any amount.

This buck does represent what you could expect to take on the management hunt. They are not around every tree as some would want you to believe but defiantly there to be had with a little effort. I disagree with using the terminology calling this a ?Management hunt.? In all reality I believe it is simply an ?opportunity? hunt. More tags are given to the general public with restrictions on antler size in an effort to keep extreme hunting pressure off some of the bigger deer. In the past when all the tags were drawn without restriction a lot of these types of bucks were being passed over and were simply dying of old age. This way, another opportunity is presented for additional hunters. I don't mind having the tags there but certainly disagree with any notion that this type of hunt is an attempt to keep genetically inferior bucks from breeding. Great buck and nice shooting Dev. Also, good job Kade. I think you will make a great guide/pack mule one day!

Wow Conch, now that post right there was a moment of Clairity. Check it out Devin, you made the big time, Your Pic and your buck made Monster Muleys. :)

We are down hunting now with my wife. It has been tough where she can't get out and walk. Friday was our first day and we seen a few successful hunters with smaller bucks. Hoping today is better. Congrats on a great looking buck!
