I didn't know if putting in for an archery deer tag was a good choice or not for me since it had been over 10 years that I have hunted archery deer. I did hunt archery elk 5 years ago though and was successful. This buck showed up early in the summer and became one that was on our hit list. It was only the third time he came in to our blind and the first two times he left without allowing a shot. This third time he finally came to within 30 yds and gave me a good shot. I knew he was hit hard but as light faded we watched him enter a small group of trees. We decided to leave him over night so we wouldn't push him further. We returned at first light and as we looked through the small group of trees we couldn't find him but soon looked up and there he layed about 15 yds past the trees. Walking up on this buck did not disappoint and I wished the pics did his mass justice, he is way heavy. ?Big Heavy? was finally ours. Great fun to share with friends and family. Hope you enjoy the pics.

schoolhousegrizz, thanks for your comment. I agree the cape is one of the prettiest things on this buck. The taxidermist said it was one of the best he has ever worked with. Its a cool transition from summer to winter cape for sure.
