I am sitting on a pile of cabelas points and was thinking of buying a foxpro.

I get a couple hundred cabelas points a month so its not like i have to be real careful with them. That is the main reason i am willing to buy the call. Dont think I would spend that much cash on a call I wont use to much.

I pretty much plan to buy it from cabelas unless there is a extremely good reason to buy it somewhere else.

I really dont need it. I do not do a lot of varmint hunting, but, would like to do more.

I would use the crow call for sure.

Would like to keep it around $400

What does everyone think of the FX3?

The FX3 is a pretty good call. If you could get the Scorpion you'd get more features that a very useful. That all being said I had a Foxpro but traded it for a gun. It worked fine for me but I enjoy using hand calls more. Something about calling them in on my own. I guess it's kind of like flyfishing... Anyway, get what you want. They are a neat little tool.

I have had one for several years and I love it. A lot of predators have come to it. The remote works as it should and it is a light weight unit, and FOXPRO's customer service is second to none! I would NOT by it from Cabelas, if you do you get the sounds that they want you to have and if they don't fit your need, which they won't, you have to by more sounds to replace them. Order one from ALlpredatorcalls.com and get one with the sounds that you want right off the bat. If you're not sure what you want then talk to AP Jones, who is the presedent of the company and he will be extremely helpfull, he is an avid predator hunter and he really helped my when I bought mine, plus he usually gives you a subscription to Predator Extreme to go with your purchase. That's what I would do anyway.

Sounds like some really good advice.

I really do not want to spend $500 in "real" money so that is why I am going with cabelas.

Has anyone had any experience with their cheaper version for about $399 ?

Cheaper version is a great unit to. 99% of the time I only use 1 speaker on My FX3 anyway, and for the average guy 8 or 16 sounds is plenty. If it has the long distance remote, I say go for it, but I still would go with Allpredatorcalls.com, I want the sounds that I can use, not what Cabelas thinks I can use. I mean really, who is going to use a bull elk bugle on an E-caller anyway?

Thanks Shummy, I am leaning towards the cheaper one as much as I would use it.
I even sold my Johnny Stewart on ebay a few months ago since I rarely used it the 5 years I owned it. I am hoping that this one being smaller and lighter I may use it more.

There is a big difference between Cabelas funny money and cash. That is why cabelas is where I most likely will buy it. I dont think i will spend the cash on it.
I run my businesses expenses thru my cabelas card and that gets me 200-300 cabelas points a month to play with.

If i get the cheap one from cabelas, can i upload other sounds or replace the ones I get??

I got the fox pro3 this year and called in about 25 dogs I have the johnny stewart and it was good but the fox pro has a remote and can change the vollume which I think helps alot. You cant go wrong with this call.

Thanks guys. I have still not pulled the trigger. I am leaning towards the cheap one for the amount i would use it.

If I can put new sounds on it may be just fine.

I have had the FX3 for about three years now, great caller. When I was looking for a caller I couldn't find anything that came close to a FoxPro. If you bought the FX 3 and decided you didn't want it any longer I bet you could sell it in about a half day and if you buy the cheaper one and start getting into calling you will probably wish you had the FX 3. JMHO, good luck with what ever you get.
