It also would allow corner crossing...At hockey tonight one of the other parents said they are changing the rules for Game and Fish officers to enforce trespassing? Anyone have the scoop on this?
Here is an article about it that I saw posted on another site…
Bill Would Hike Some Wyoming Nonresident Hunting Tags More Than 200%
A bill pending in the Wyoming Legislature would dramatically hike fees for nonresident hunters wanting to get 'special draw' hunting tags. Deer would go from $288 to $826 (a 187% jump) and antelope would increase from $288 to $874 (a 203% jump).cowboystatedaily.com

This has nothing to do with the OPs questionHere is an article about it that I saw posted on another site…

There is a second half to that article. It mentions that game and fish can charge criminal trespass and not just hunting/wildlife trespass… not sure it does anything about corner crossing???This has nothing to do with the OPs question
I believe it does if it passes. To trespass, one must physically touch the property. The language used is now specific in that a person stepping over a corner, who doesn't physically touch property, isn't trespassing. The second part simply allows game wardens to avoid having to call sheriff's in to make a call on the trespass. I believe that is also a good change. Game wardens, from my experience, are very in tune with hunting and landowner issues. Some deputies, not so much. There is a second half to that article. Sorry, but you are reading way too much in that bill. As far as corner cross, it would just side with the AG opinion that it's not a title 23 trespass.I believe it does if it passes. I may be too optimistic I guess... the language does seem very clear to me though.Sorry, but you are reading way too much in that bill. As far as corner cross, it would just side with the AG opinion that it's not a title 23 trespass.
The purpose of the bill is too eliminate the "intent" excuse when actually trespassing to hunt public land.
JM 77 is correct. This would prevent someone from unloading their firearms, driving across a 2-track through private land, or walking across private land to public, then claim they had no intent to hunt the private land. I believe a jury found in favor of some hunters out of Cody, WY with similar facts.
So why the added language about physically touching the property?JM 77 is correct. Because the original bill last year did not include that wording and there was an uproar by the public that the bill was a back door to making corner cross illegal using the words "travel through".So why the added language about physically touching the property?
So wouldn't this be a back door making corner crossing legal? If you have to touch before it is considered trespassing...Because the original bill last year did not include that wording and there was an uproar by the public that the bill was a back door to making corner cross illegal using the words "travel through".
Very poorly written article by the way, which is par for the course at the Cowboy State Daily. The trespass bill is SF56 ot 46.
The bill has nothing to do with Title 6 criminal trespass. It only deals with Title 23 hunting trespass. So wouldn't this be a back door making corner crossing legal? If you have to touch before it is considered trespassing...
Thanks- I appreciate you taking the time to educate. The bill has nothing to do with Title 6 criminal trespass. It only deals with Title 23 hunting trespass.
This relates to a two track that isn't a county road, correct?driving across a 2-track through private land
Correct. This relates to a two track that isn't a county road, correct?
Thanks.
We focus on trophy elk, mule deer, antelope and moose hunts and take B&C bucks most years.
