Wyoming G and H non resident tags cut again

Ah, I missed that. No I would not suggest opening rifle elk earlier. It certainly could impact bull quality, but to be fair there are other places that have earlier openers than September 26, (Thorofare, Frank Church) where one could argue bull quality is not affected. But access is surely a...

Wyoming G and H non resident tags cut again

Are you suggesting hunters and outfitters don’t support the September 26th general elk opener for rifle in much of that country? It’s definitely the rut, bulls are getting blasted with rifles, and in my opinion the general elk quality is far from total crap.

    Star Valley

Any suggestions on volunteer opportunities, conservation groups, shooting ranges/clubs to get involved with in Star Valley area? Any other local hunting/fishing forums you could DM me about? Thanks in advance.

    Crazy sh$t ODFW in trouble

This is another of the long list of reasons I chose to leave as well. I'm guessing there are lots of folks like myself and tmbr_huntr who threw in the towel. Wyoming here I come!

Best Western Big Game State To Retire In???

My wife and I chose Wyoming, should be there by September. It is concerning to hear that waiting this long makes me a loser. I am only semi-retiring from my forestry business in Oregon so maybe I'm only sort of a loser?

Have to use 14 deer points this year

tmbr_hntr We are in the same boat as you. We’re moving to Thayne once our house is finished late summer. My wife and I are burning all of our points as well, planning to just hunt G, Gen elk, and central WY antelope. Look me up sometime.

    Wyoming bound!

We too have enjoyed our new neighbors and everyone we’ve met. Our little acreage also has the full array of local game. After 30 years of managing private timberland, I’m looking forward to doing some habitat improvements on my own property for once.

    Wyoming bound!

Lots of lively debate here lately. Any members making the move to Wyoming soon? My wife and I are finally breaking ground this summer on property we bought in 2021, and hope to be residents of Thayne in 2024. That will end 54 years in Oregon for us. Anyone else care to share when and where?

    Elk hunting

I can't think of a better hunt in Oregon for an 82 year old. Lots of elk on the relatively flat timber company ground that is open to the public.

    Wyoming Hunt Consulting/Scouting Package

Brian, Nothing personal, but as you stated some will not share your opinion of what you are doing. I am one of those, and don't want to be associated with it in anyway. I won't be visiting here anymore, so please go ahead and delete me as a member. I have really enjoyed your site over the...

    Wyoming Hunt Consulting/Scouting Package

Since Brian is choosing to turn his scouting into a commercial activity on Forest Service lands I would want to know that he has the proper FS permit/license before engaging his services. Guides/outfitters have to be permitted, I can't imagine this wouldn't need to be as well. B

    Information on REI ... Anyone?

I was a member for awhile since they have great stuff. Until the day I went to my local store here in Oregon and there was a guy at the front door soliciting signatures for the ballot measure to ban baiting for bears and hunting with hounds (it passed). I walked into the store, did not get a...

Need a rifle for the wife...........

I would recommend the 308. I added a limbsaver to my 12 year olds Abolt and she handles it just fine with 180 grain bullets.
