Hey guys, I appreciate the feedback. It's true that no deer hunt in Oregon is worth that amount of points. So my son and I together have enough points to average and draw Warner unit which we will probably do next year. It's not in the cards for him this year plus I have an elk and deer hunt...
Hey Fellow Oregon MM. I have 23 resident points for deer but I don't want to draw any unit this year as a first choice. Typically I would pick a unit I don't have enough points to draw so I would get my point, then list a second choice for a eastern Oregon bow deer unit I could get as a second...
Good advice but if I drive from Oregon to MT, ID, CO, WY I'm sure I can live with driving a few hours to get around Montana as long as I can get a tag unlike OR where tags are much harder to come by.
I understand that Montana isn't what it used to be, no western state is. However I've lived my whole life in Oregon and I've hunted Montana several times in recent years. The sad truth is for DIY public land hunting you still have us beat by a log shot for opportunity and quality and fewer...
I guess I better chime in here as the person who is the original poster of this question. So many great responses and a few not so much. It's funny we all feel the same about outsiders coming to our states. We're full!! I don't blame you having lived in Oregon my whole life, we feel the same...
Thank you fellow hunters. I thought this would be a fun questions to ask and a lot of you gave fun answers that I enjoyed. In all seriousness it looks like Wyoming is hands down the winner if your just taking into account Hunting. You brought up a lot of great points to consider for several...
I have quite a few depending on the species but once you burn them you burn them. So I have to burn my 24 points for Oregon Deer and 24 points Oregon antelope and 7 Oregon elk before I move. But regardless where I go I'm only a resident in one place so the others no different than where I am now.
Hello Monster Muley's.
I have two to three years until retirement. I'll have just turned 60 at that point and hopefully still have some good years of hunting ahead of me. I can't count on the point system to do the amount of hunting I want. Especially in the retirement years of my life and...
If you want to hunt together probably 61, 70 is forecasted as needing 4 points to draw the 2nd season this year according to the magazines. If I remember right CO does not average points so if that is correct you'd be looking at working with your buddy's three point which probably won't even get...
