I drew it in 21 as a resident with 17 points. I was there 3 weeks ago for turkey and the deer population doesn’t look good. It might be worth waiting 5-6 yeats for a tag.

I bought one at sportsman’s warehouse today. Our group spotted 4 last year and nobody had a tag. Headed to the same unit tomorrow morning.

Tough hunt, plan on company and hunt high

I’ve hunted fall turkey in 12A probably 15 times and applied again this year. One thing noted is the population fluctuates wildly from year to year . I’m not quite sure what to expect this year due to the heavy snow accumulations this winter but hopefully we can find some birds.

I drew in 2020 with 12, struck out with 11,10,9…..

Don’t waste that many points on a 36B coues hunt unless you’re using yours with others to average out lower points. We drew the late December 36B hunt this year with a 5 point average.

I hunted 17A for several years in the mid 80s to early 90s. Yes there we’re always a lot of hunters in the camp wood area on the A and B side but back the 17A would have around 800 tags if you can imagine that in such a small unit. The B side had 4-500. Even the with all those tags if you walked...

If not guided do you have any family or friends coming along? I did the same hunt solo last year and did fine. My son came along for a few days. With the change of the camera law it might even out your chances a bit with guided folks.

Sophomore in HS, not much hunting up to that point.

I didn’t go on the trip but some friends hunted 500 next to 501 and said 100% of the elk were way high at tree line

Some time after the 16th I believe and after they confirm the tags are paid.

We drew 2 ML bull tags in 71. I own property there and have realistic expectations but nothing like mid September in high country!
