The non resident cap was removed for 2005 draws. I drew unit 9 early archery elk and 12A west late deer in 05. My two brothers also drew the late west deer tag. Awesome year :)

They also really cut the tag numbers down on Kaibab archery. I was drawing every other year as a non resident with a hunter safety and loyalty point. I just took it for granted. If im lucky I will draw one more time.

Could be wrong but I think the rifle hunts on Alton begin Sept 1st. I read or heard once , dont remember, that 40 percent of the bucks of the Pauns deer herd summered in the Alton area. That elevation and the oaks , mostly private, will hold bucks for the muzz hunt. That kind of terrain is also...

First hard freeze on top they move. Usually during the time frame of your hunt dates. If you find one off the top they will be around for your hunt.

I drew random with.2 points. 4th time same hunt since the late 90s. Its archery , so a test on old joints.

It also takes age . There will be a handful of great bucks on the Pauns. The professional's are aware of almost all of them. They will probably be gone before the rifle hunt.

That is just bizarre

I thought both units were managed by age classification. They haven't changed permit numbers on the Pauns for decades. Population numbers reflect drought and fawn production. I guess those numbers dont trigger permit changes. Maybe should.
