I've hunted that area you described, nice deer country but popular with hunters.

Walk softly and carry a big stick -just trying to keep it simple. You don't really need a bunch of expensive gear to get started. Go higher up and farther back, have fun and be safe.

I'm satisfied with Sundance and High Country but can't vouch for sheep and rock expertise.

My gut feeling from tromping around those units is that elk numbers are down, deer numbers are way down and wolves are getting thicker. In the last five years or so the cow elk muzzleloader hunt in 33,34 went from 'open' to controlled hunt with hundreds of tags to now a controlled hunt with...

I'll trade you. I'll hunt where you're having success and you can hunt unit 34 where the deer are sparse, the bucks nocturnal and the big bucks .... well, good luck. Did I mention that its steep and brushy?
