I've hunted that area you described, nice deer country but popular with hunters.

Walk softly and carry a big stick -just trying to keep it simple. You don't really need a bunch of expensive gear to get started. Go higher up and farther back, have fun and be safe.

I heard that the end of the world is supposed to be in 2012. Hopefully it won't be until after hunting season .... and after November if I get my draw hunt. But all the info you're asking for is on the Fish and Game website.
