Thanks for your reply's, pretty dang happy for my first elk. On his hip is actually a blood sample vile. Provided by the fish and game to check for brucellosis.

First I want to thank all those who were kind enough to share information with me. I really do appreciate it, and figured I would share my success.

There is a required off road sticker, I don't where you are from but at least with Utah I believe there is a reciprocity with off road stickers. I have not actually hunted diamond creek but I have other units with the same ATV restrictions and can say it is a VERY abused law, and frustrates...

Thanks huntfishall1, that is good information. I was looking at that thread yesterday. Sounds like it would have made some sense to hunt the border hard in years past, but not so much anymore as was suggested by others.

Yeah that makes it a little hard gknutson, sounds like a busy fall. Again I would like to thank all those who have responded, either in post or in messaging. In all honesty it has been pleasantly surprising.

I thank you both for your reply's. It is certainly a large area with a lot of pretty country, but there are also more roads than I would prefer. I heard that with the pressure the area receives from late Aug archery through Dec muzzy that wounded animals is not completely uncommon...

I have drawn this tag that includes units 75, 77, and 78. Looking for any advice on areas to scout prior to the season. I spent last weekend in 78, but did not turn up any elk. Though the weather hampered my efforts.

My old Zen Ray ED2 binoculars are close optically to my brothers Euro's (non-HD), low light included. I will say the Euro's still were a little better. As far as the two mentioned I have not looked through either. One thing that may be of use to you is my experience with zen ray costumer...

Little late but its a weird deal when you guess on so many questions. Then you get to play what seems to me like too long of a waiting game to get results.
