Bit the bullet and booked a first season rifle elk hunt for my son with Mike Lawson. He moved to CO a few years back for work. Finally making good use of the points I started buying when he was a kid!!

If I start my hunt on 10/8 instead of 10/1 do I run the risk on missing the best part of the rut/hunt?

Now that I’ve got the tag and have a general idea where we will be starting. I’ll have about 8-10 days to hunt. From others experience, when can we estimate the peak of the rut?
