    Govt shutdown - grasslands

The grasslands are operated like national forests. The only thing that will be shut down is amentities like toilets/campgrounds...anything that costs money to run. Public land is always open. Good luck on your hunt. Kurtski

Looking for a good Whitetail hunt

If you decide on whitetails in Idaho, be sure not to go too far north. I live near Coeur d'Alene and I haven't seen a deer, while hunting, in 4 days. Kurt

    Whitetail Rut up North

I know the population is down from about St. Maries north. I couldn't tell you how the population is doing around Grangeville, Kamiah. Kurt

    Whitetail Rut up North

I always find the 18th to 22nd to be the best times in November in North Idaho. Good luck, the deer are a little hard to find this year. Kurt

North Idaho early rifle tag...looking for help.

Hey Madmoose, I really appreciate it. Sometime if you're interested in hunting WY you just PM me. I was a biologist down that way and I'll put you onto some nice hunting that way for either elk, antelope or mulies. I'll also let you know how I did. I hope to get down there in a couple of...

North Idaho early rifle tag...looking for help.

I was lucky enough to draw the early rifle tag in North Idaho this year. I live here and I know the past few winters have been brutal on the deer and elk herds in the area. I have spent some time scouting south of Pinehurst in the Twin Crags and Lemonade Peak areas, but I didn't see a thing...

Anyone willing to share info Unit 66 3rd deer?

Thanks for all the tips and advice guys. I'll definitely have the wall tent ready to go and hope for a decent snowfall to push the deer to some lower more accessible country. Kurt

Anyone willing to share info Unit 66 3rd deer?

I used 11 pts to get the tag. It's a little more than I needed, but the wait has been killing me and life finally worked out that I'll have the time this fall to spend the time necessary. I hope to see that 180, this is my big chance because North Idaho isn't going to come up with a 180...

Anyone willing to share info Unit 66 3rd deer?

If anyone is willing to share any info I'd greatly appreciate it. I've done some research and talked to a few folks that have hunted the unit, I'm really excited about the tag. Anyone willing to PM me with info and I'll do my best to pass on any info that might be helpful to you. Thanks, Kurt

    Deer Herd Health

    1. Habitat. If the deer elk have great habitat they can probably make it through almost the worst winter. 2. Habitat. If they have the proper alignment of hiding cover, food and water and the animal is healthy they can then escape predators...four-legged and two-legged. 3. Habitat. Grow of...

    Elk Unit 61 & 7....thoughts

I know of unit 61 and I've seen some very nice bulls there, but you have to go in about 6-8 miles before you get into the really good areas and most of the best hunting areas are in the wilderness. If you have access to horses and the weather gods shine on you it can be a good hunt. If you...

    WYoming Unit 56 Bull

Very nice bull. I had the same tag once upon a time and shot a nice bull. I remember the bull I shot, but it's the beautiful country I remember the most. Kurtski

    Seely Lake

IF I was going to the Seeley Lake area, I'd look for a big whitetail not and elk or a muley. I've been thru the area a few times and I always saw good whitetail. I know they were knocked back a few years ago with a bad winter and I don't know how they've recovered in the last year. Kurtski25
