Well done Luke! I bet you could smell those back straps sizzling on the grill every step of those 4 miles! Congratulations.

    They DO exist! Avintaquin bucks.

Started a thread a month or so ago asking about tough hikes and better hunts on the Avintaquin. I took yall's advice. I found the nastiest area to hike to the top of, then dropped down into the most remote bowl I could find without any known trails in the area (I use the term remote...

    Mt. Nebo trail use

Check just beyond the Beaver Dam Overlook (when the road starts heading west). There's easy hiking on the north side of Nebo Loop around this area.... but get ready for crowds! You'd have better luck dropping off the south/east side around Gentle Band Ridge (horses welcomed!). Not much time...

    Uncock your rifle for storage?

    Nasty Hike = Better Hunt?

GREAT POINT! I know the surest way to increase my odds is to get my glass out and start hitting the hills as much as possible before mid-October.

Really good insight Zeke. Thanks for the input.

    Nasty Hike = Better Hunt?

Does seem like more and more that people are going after those 'harder to reach' places in hopes that they'll find the big one. Can't say a blame 'em. I'll start looking for more think country to scout, thanks.
