If it were me, I'd look strongly at the Bosque Del Oso. 4th rifle.

There is, and can be no compelling reason to introduce an apex predator into a pristine environment. Unless it's a foot in the door to do away with, or curtail hunting. Which goes hand in glove with gun control.

I would have thought the farther east would be mostly rural and closer to Kansas the more "birdy". Hence some rancher opening up his fields for a couple of days. But to be honest, I'm sure CPW would make it painful with the regs, and likely liability insurance.

Wasn't a fan of the oil rigs. But the wildlife of all kinds didn't seem to mind at all.

It would be kind of hard to do. It's surrounded by big ranches. There are elk on private and they go through the Bosque to hit other ranches. It's not an easy hunt. If you get one you'll of earned it.

I am too old to ever hunt it again. But it is the prettiest piece of unspoiled public land I have ever hunted. CPW is determined to keep it that way with almost zero hunting/fishing footprint.

I saw bear scat on the roads. Only one bear hunter was there during my hunt using one of those tags that kept rolling over to another season. He was unsuccessful during my time there. He had hunted bear exclusively for two weeks. I did not see any bear when I was there or hear that anyone else...
