    Year round tent for family

Thanks everyone for the input and advice. I ended up getting the 12 x 20 alaknak and I am looking forward to using it later this month and next. If anyone has recommendations for wood stoves that will be my next purchase. I will not be packing it in so weight isn't to much of a worry.

    Maven Optics

I have had the Maven 9x45 for about a year and I have no complaints with them at all. I have hunted with others that have the Cabelas euro HD 10x42 and Razor 10x42. The other 2 that I hunt with said if they bought new binos again they would go with the mavens over what they had. They are more...

"Best" all around cartridge for kids?

I bought my kids a browning x-bolt micro midas in 6.5 creedmoor last Christmas. My oldest is 11 and weighs 65 lbs soaking wet. He can shoot this gun until I stop giving him bullets and has not complained about the recoil. Haven't had him try beyond 300 yards but out to that I couldn't ask for...

    Year round tent for family

I am not sure if what I am asking is even realistic but it's worth a try. I am looking for recommendations for a tent that my family can use from early spring to late Oct. timeframe. With my wife and 3 boys it needs to be able to handle all 5 of us and gear. We usually camp in mountain locations...

    Advice for Kids

When my boys were little I got them a savage rascal 22lr. It is a bolt action single shot like the cricket. My boys were 4 when they started shooting it and have done fine. When they started I had tripods they used to help them hold it steady so they could focus on aiming.

    Binoculars

LAST EDITED ON Mar-02-18 AT 08:20AM (MST)[p]I would suggest looking at the Maven C.1 binos. They are a bit more than the Vortex or Leupold models that others have suggested but in my opinion they are well worth the extra money and you won't be disappointed in them. You can also try them through...

    6.5 Creedmoor for kids

I am looking into getting a rifle that until yesterday would have been for my oldest boy but now may be used by my wife as well. I have heard a lot of the 6.5 creedmoor and it's performance. The thing that really has my interest is the light recoil as both my wife and boy are on the smaller...

ANyone here ever take the FE? (Fundamentals of Engineering)

Don't stress about it, that makes the test a lot harder. I had to take it as a requirement for my bachelors. I studied the sections that I had classes in and some knowledge to make sure I knew the material. If I hadn't taken a class in the subject I didn't spend anytime trying to learn it...

Need a "rookie" lab. In the market for a pup

LAST EDITED ON Dec-03-12 AT 02:33PM (MST)[p]+1 on pups from snake river retrievers. I have a 2 year old black lab from there that I don't have one complaint about. I have experienced the same as NvrEnuf, drive that never stops and never backs away from a challenge. I hunt both upland and...

    Thoughts on proposed ski area?

LAST EDITED ON Oct-19-12 AT 10:58AM (MST)[p]I realize that there is the ability to make snow, but they will have to rely on machines to make 90 % of there snow. Then that raises a question for me, do they have enough water rights to make that much snow?

    Thoughts on proposed ski area?

To me it's not a "not in my backyard" scenario. I don't know how they think there will be enough snow, that's why deer and elk winter there. When it does snow on those hills it melts quickly. It's just a really bad business plan that I don't think will succeed. From the south end of Logan I can...

    Thoughts on proposed ski area?

Where they want to put the resort it will never make it, they don't get enough snow. Those low slopes will be bare of snow even before the valley floor. Their slopes will melt off very quickly. I live here in cache valley and remember reading the proposal when it first came out and my initial...
