Thanks everyone for the input and advice. I ended up getting the 12 x 20 alaknak and I am looking forward to using it later this month and next. If anyone has recommendations for wood stoves that will be my next purchase. I will not be packing it in so weight isn't to much of a worry.

When my boys were little I got them a savage rascal 22lr. It is a bolt action single shot like the cricket. My boys were 4 when they started shooting it and have done fine. When they started I had tripods they used to help them hold it steady so they could focus on aiming.

Cache Meadowville is almost all private, if you draw there you better be friends with a rancher that will give you access to his land or be willing to pay for the access. If you don't have the access to private land you will have a hard time seeing any elk the entire hunt.
