Curious if any of you have been in the area as of late and what the back roads are like. I should be able to get out there in a few weeks and will update then.

That’s a tough hunt. I had that tag last year. Saw a few cow elk and one really nice bull but not a single spike. I only spent 3 days hunting it though. I would suggest planning on hunting it hard for at least a week. Lots of area to explore.

Oh man. Just looked at the draw odds on these. Been putting in for all species every year thinking I had a very remote chance. I realize the revenue goes to a good cause but wow those odds are terrible.

I drew a spike tag in 221. Starts on 9-25. PM me if you are there after that and I’ll let you know what I find. From what I hear most elk are in 222 though.

I hunted the wilderness last year. Saw lots of elk. Only saw deer at the bottom of the mountain before hiking in.
