    Wyo elk draw date ?

There may be wayyyy more upsides from your perspective, but it is an unfortunate move from my perspective. Time is my limiting factor when it comes to hunting. The early Wyoming draw helped me reduce the chance of doubling up on hunts and potentially wasting points on a hunt that I wouldn't be...

    6.5 Creedmoor and elk

Put a good bullet in it and use it. More than enough juice as long as you don't push it way out there. My wife took her bull this year with Barnes Vor-tx ammo using the 120gr TTSX bullet in her 7mm-08. 182 yard shot, down in 40 yards. A good bullet placed where it needs to be does wonders.

Az G&F offerd me a 7w bull tag

Did they change the number of tags in 7W? The regs show 175 archery bull tags.

    Tag Prices

Life is short and the number of elk seasons for anyone is unknown and finite, do it while you can. But yes, the prices are getting hard to swallow.

What is a shooter to you

It depends on the hunt and situation, but most of the time "size" isn't driving my decision even though I've been lucky enough to take some good bulls. My last bull didn't score that great as a 5x5 but he was an old guy with great mass and fantastic fronts, and when I saw him on the first day...

    Field Judge This One?

The back end of that bull is beautiful. Awesome tails. Good width. Decent fronts. I suck at judging mass. I have to guess he's at least 360. If my wife sees a replica of him this fall, I sure hope she shoots it. Plus he looks like he tastes good :).

    Snake Bite

I've been fortunate to hunt elk somewhere every year for the last 23 years. I have yet to run into a rattle snake in New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, or Wyoming. Now Montana, that's a different story. Had a couple of times walking out at dusk where their rattle made me check my shorts...

Non Res LE Elk Tag Question

LAST EDITED ON May-22-17 AT 01:18PM (MST)[p]LAST EDITED ON May-22-17 AT 01:10?PM (MST) For perspective. If I have the numbers correct, in 2016 there where 1580 applicants for the San Juan rifle elk tag. If you estimate the odds by using just 1/1580, this is a terrible 0.06%. If you calculate...

    Surrendered tag... it hurts.

    >sludge it has not been "turned >in" until you have it >in hand and send it >back....still time to reconsider. Actually, when I called UDW to verify what forms were needed, the individual I talked to just took all my information down and said that they would handle it seeing that the tag...

Do you launch an arrow or not? (video)

The score isn't always everything. This bull has fantastic character and mass. Plus you can tell he has been the boss of the mountain at one time. Shooting this guy would be a heck of an accomplishment with a bow. Shot wise, when he turns and looks away, at twenty yards and in, I'm taking...

    Surrendered tag... it hurts.
