Put a good bullet in it and use it. More than enough juice as long as you don't push it way out there. My wife took her bull this year with Barnes Vor-tx ammo using the 120gr TTSX bullet in her 7mm-08. 182 yard shot, down in 40 yards. A good bullet placed where it needs to be does wonders.

Did they change the number of tags in 7W? The regs show 175 archery bull tags.

Life is short and the number of elk seasons for anyone is unknown and finite, do it while you can. But yes, the prices are getting hard to swallow.

It depends on the hunt and situation, but most of the time "size" isn't driving my decision even though I've been lucky enough to take some good bulls. My last bull didn't score that great as a 5x5 but he was an old guy with great mass and fantastic fronts, and when I saw him on the first day...

The back end of that bull is beautiful. Awesome tails. Good width. Decent fronts. I suck at judging mass. I have to guess he's at least 360. If my wife sees a replica of him this fall, I sure hope she shoots it. Plus he looks like he tastes good :).

The problem I have in my case is that I have almost complete hearing loss of high frequency sound. I can be 2 feet away from my home phone and not hear it ring. Same thing with many other high pitch sounds. Last fall I was with my buddy elk hunting and he said the bulls where just screaming...
