I'm seeing the same thing where i'm at. Deer numbers are down significantly and it seems like every guy I talk to is just trying to fill his doe tag!

If they keep OTC unlimited I think they could adjust to make it work but I don't see anyway they limit OTC tags, adjust the splits that much across the board and maintain their budget. That is without increasing tag costs or cutting from their budget somewhere.

I personally feel these surveys are a joke. There is 0% chance the CPW makes an adjustment to make the majority of folks happy here so in my opinion they need to make some kind of adjustment based off their data and then have the flexibility to adjust if needed.

Check the New Mexico Game and Fish map. I've found it is usually more up to date with some of NM unique rules and regs. My bet is that is some type of land swap with a landowner.

I was on Stallion in Jan and we saw a ton of broken horn Oryx. A guy that checked out right ahead of us on Sunday killed a giant broken horn cow. Thats a fun hunt, i'm jealous.

If you are not familiar with the unit it wouldn't be one I would recommend burning the points on. It's really a complex unit with the state boundary, private boundary's, migrations, ect. Especially with this year being later dates most of those bucks might be in Wyoming by the time the season...
