Hi all. Im trying to decide on a new elk unit this year. Ive read enough threads on here to know how virtually every single one of these posts go, they start out something like this: "Hi guys, im not looking for anyone's honey hole, or GPS coordinates, just some general advice...." Then they hardly ever get what they want.

Im taking a different approach.

i AM looking for your honey hole, and i DO want your GPS coordinates. Please DM me with all your secret spots. Thank you ahead of time...

Anywhere east of the Bitterroot divide.
Wrong there are no elk or deer left in montana, the wolves, road hunters, 6 month season, damn non resident hunters have killed, all the deer and elk in the state, everybody needs to hunt idaho, they have more elk bigger deer, less hunters & otc tags and a lot more public land &. MUch better opportunity

You have to get through the ID Draw in Dec.... I mean OTC process first, lets face it, its a draw now lol. Which you missed, do some more homework. Look at weapon type, harvest rates and terrain you want to hunt. That will answer your questions, Get a tag Dec 1 do not ask in Feb about this year. However you can put in for draw tags later this spring. All you need to know can be found. Then ask direct questions that show you did some homework, search old threads first on several sites. Then its boot pic time.

Most of Idaho's Best elk zones are in Nevada Montana & Colorado
Nope idaho beats all 3
google trophy mule deer hunting idaho Consistently places SECOND for top 5 states for mule deer and 5th for elk hunting montana comes in @ 10 for elk and doesn't eve. Break the top. 15 for mule deer
I hunt CO, Wy, MT & Id and by far idaho beats all of them except colorado for deer hands down
I tell EVERYBODY that ask idaho
Is the place to go
AND I DO it knowing it will piss off
The idaho residents
Montana doesn't need anymore non residents, we are full

Do you have a tag? Or are you just hunting without one again this year?

Nopw, idaho beats all 3
none of the states you mention even come close to idaho
Idaho is #2 for trophy mule deer and whitetails in the west
Dont know where you get your info but Colorado still has the highest # of elk 2020 est was around 250000 !! Montana is still #2 with 160000 compared to Idaho at 120000 !! Nevada cranks out some of the Biggest bulls every year

I said for record book deer iidaho ranks #2
Never said anything about population or elk
I said record book mule/whitetail deer
Google trophy mule deer hunting idaho ranks #2
Montana, doesn't even crack the top 15 for nule deer
And montanas current elk population sits, at 134,000-136,000 not 160,000

Your deer stats seem accurate but...I think his point may be, the thread is about Idaho ELK and spots to hunt them...

I believe you are the only one talking about deer.

Not trying to be an azz just trying to clear the air a bit.
