Archery Elk Pressure

My youngest son drew the Utah Youth Elk tag. We have hunted this tag before with my oldest and know what we are up against but when he hunted it it was youth only without the archery. Wondering how hard the archery guys are getting with it late into the season. We plan on backpacking in so hopefully we wont see much pressure.

I think the last five days of archery season get hunted more that the rest of the season for any bull elk. I barely saw anyone hunting elk during archery last year until the last few days. I went into one of my preferred places to bowhunt and I kid you not there were 20+ atvs and side-by-sides there on Tuesday morning. It's like archery deer ends and all of the bowhunters switch gears to elk. It was eye opening.

Archery should calm down a bit as dudes like me won't have 3 season tags so we can experiment with archery

Also, the rut kicks in towards the end of the archery hunt with all the bugling, wallowing and careless behavior of the bulls and archers can often get closer then. So that's when a lot of them take their time off work. In any case, try to be there early! And have a fun, successful and safe hunt!
