Black eagle arrows

Anyone shooting BE arrows? Looking at Rampge or deep impact. Will be used on elk. I shoot about 66lbs and 28.5" draw.

Black eagle makes some great arrows. Personally I shoot the instinct's from trad, and the zombie slayers on compound, so I don't have a real world experience with them. That said, I am not a fan of the true outserts as they tend to snap the arrow when they hit something solid (such as bone etc.). I'd go with the Rampage as they offer a half out insert, which at least has some reinforcement inside the shaft.

I've tried the rampages and they worked fine, the setup ended up heavier than I like so I went to carnivores. Both arrows shoot great, very consistent. The last elk I shot didn't know the difference, blew right thru it.

How heavy was too heavy? I am looking at about 490 grains.

Take a look at the VAP tko. Those are what I shot and boy, they zip. 460gr arrow and sunk to the fletchings on a 20 yard frontal. 66lb and same draw length as you.

I have used victory VAP in the past and thought about going to the TKO model. What broadhead are you using?

I've been shooting the Black Eagle Carnivores for several years and now and have been very pleased.

I'm shooting them from a 65 pound 29 inch bow. I'm heavily weighted with inserts up front for a high FOC and would have no issue using them on elk.

I'm currently shooting a 125 Ramcat and while a great broadhead up to the task of elk, the blades are a little finicky IMO for spot and stalk hunting. They'll work, but you need to keep an eye on them. This comes from experience of spot and stalk hogs and javi's.
