What's everybody in for now thats is done?

If You See & Find 5 170"+ Bucks Every year?

How Many Bucks Do You See That'll Break Thew 200" Mark?

They cut 1000 tags for 2024 when compared to 2023, if thats the case they are not doing a great job. Besides I find 5 170"+ bucks every year where I hunt.

Never Denied It!

I'm Just Thinking:

If You're Seeing That Many Nice Bucks There Should Be A Few That Might Be Smart Enough To Get To The Age Class That SOME Of Us Wanna See!

200" bucks are very rare on general units, but then again its a general hunting area managed for opportunity not trophy class bucks. A 170"+ buck is a great buck on a general unit, any one denying that is delusional.

Thank you, elkassassin! I hope so. There are a few with more points and a few with the same as me, but all have been doing points only for years. I hope none jump in. I was one of the 4 with 27 points trying for the two max points tags last year.

I swung for the fence on all species because I already have a full plate this fall hunting wise. I think my best draw odds are 1% for elk and lower than 1% with all other species - 15 points for most species too. If I were draw it would be a good one but very unlikely.

Dont be spreading any of that info on here. Let people think it sucks and makes it easier for us to keep drawing the tag.

20 LE points for Alton CWMU.
23 for Moose.
Likely won’t draw either.
Anyone want to trade me 5 LE Deer points for my 23 Moose points?
Since we are looking to changing everything up with the deer and the elk points, I do wish that the OIL points were just that. My 22 moose points are worthless. I'll never draw. I wish I could change each year and try for a sheep or Bison or goat, just for kicks and giggles.

Hey Robi!

You Might Wanna Check In To The Bison Hunts Recently!

My Bison Points Are Probably About As Good Your Moose Points!

If you were a non-resident you could apply for all the OIL’s!
Time to change that rule!!!

LE Deer with 10 points
Gen deer point (will make 5)
Waiting period for elk
Rush Valley Antelope with 5 points

Prob won't draw anything but have Wyoming and Colorado already set up.

Will It Stretch A DRATville PISSCUTTER In To A 30"ER?

I just picked up a Nikon P1000 camera (just discontinued) I’ve been wanting one for about the last five years. Largest camera zoom ever, 3,000mm, 125x optical zoom. I should get some good photos of what’s out there this year.

I should know in a few months. I’ve been out of photography and videography for too long. I think I will get back into it for fun. Mostly wildlife for fun but I’m going to hire out for photo shoots of custom cars etc.; Fun stuff but no damn weddings.

Shane, I'll give you my 12 Moose Points for your 20 Deer Points. I think with 35 Moose Points you'd get a tag. 😃😃 And you're getting a screaming deal because the ratio of LE points to OIL points is 2:1 🤣

Myself: LE Pronghorn, Book Cliffs (North) 0pts
OIL Moose, North Slope, 12pts

Wife: LE Rifle Deer, Book Cliffs, 2pts
General Deer Point

Daughter: LE Rifle Deer, Book Cliffs, 2pts
Early Youth Any Bull

Group: Gen Rifle Deer, Early, Fishlake 13pts/3 people (avg 4). My daughter will be able to hunt ALL seasons. My dad and I both plan to mentor our rifle tags to my son, and my niece.

Premium LE (top NR pool)
Gen Buck(5pts)
LE BULL Elk. (20 plus pts).
Jester
Got to call BS on this. Most you could have on a second NR deer/elk or second OIL is 15 points. That's when they allowed nonresidents to apply for everything.

I stand corrected.. I didn't look until you said so.. just figured I had two less than deer le points..
Jester

Late LE Muzzy Buck on a Gen unit, 11 points.
Hoping to keep an eye on some Rams, while hunting a buck.

H-Ogden Bull moose 1 point...

I drew my Desert Ram tag last year.

I shared my 20 gen deer points last year with a guy, his Mrs and their daughter.

So, I just did bow deer on the North Slope, 0 points,

Robb

That's really good of you, Robb. I would like to hear of how that turned out....where'd you hunt? Were you all successful at filling your tags? It's a good thing when one shares like this when you can draw the best general tag out there but instead, are selfless and generous. Good for you. You can pm me if you'd like.

LE Elk 22 pts Beaver Late
Moose 23 pts points
General deer points 6
Dedicated deer points 7

Kids and wife
Cwmu LE Elk 3 pts
Desert Big Horn 3 pts
General Deer points

Already have a good ID archery elk tag, so mostly points for me. Also already went to New Zealand and killed a Red Stag this year with my old man. Only so much time off available…

Family and myself.

Gen deer muzzy - 0,0,0,2 & 2 points
Dedicated deer - 4 points
Limited deer - 7, 9 & 15 points
Limited NR elk rifle - 28 point
Limited elk muzzy - 0 & 1 point
Moose - 15, 15, 16, 19 & 27 points
Moose preference points for son out of state - makes 28 NR points.

Nothing garrenteed, but getting close on a couple. Hoping to maybe pull a random. 🤞. Good luck to all in the draw.

Non-Resident:

Wasatch East General Deer
Long Shot LE Deer, Elk, Antelope. 12 elk points, 8 deer/pronghorn.
Long, Long, Long shot at OIL stuff. 19 Goat points. 8 for everything else.

Looking forward to glassing my favorite oak patches on the Wasatch East this year! I'll be there for the season closer hoping for that early rut action and the start of the migration.---SS

Resident
Archery antelope 0 points (50/50 odds to draw)
Gen archery deer 1 point 0 chance to draw
Dedicated hunter 0 points 0 chance to draw
South slope diamond Moose 20 points long long odds.

I missed my first 6 years of application for moose, those 6 years will likely cost me 40+ years to be guaranteed a tag if moose populations stay relatively current. I would be in the points needed had i started applying when i was 14.

Allowing nonresidents to apply for all OIL species killed draw odds in the pool for all, especially for bison or goat. Most nonresidents would apply for sheep or moose if they had to pick one.
That’s why I picked bison 26 years ago. Wrong move, but I did draw a rocky in 2020 with 11 points😎😎

Time to change that rule!!!
The State of Utah has some smart people that made the decision to let NR apply for all species. Make a lot more money and issue no more tags - zero chance they are going to change this money maker. I buy points for all species, and it is possible I will never draw another Utah tag. It did not hurt me too much because I had burned my points about the time this happened. It is killing my brother's chances at a random elk tag. He has 17 points, and it could be years before he draws an even decent tag. His odds of drawing a random tag are lower today than when he had one point for LE tags or no better. If you are a resident what difference does this make to you? We hate it as NR too - it is not the deal you think it is.

That's ANOTHER Money Deal Right There Just Like You Said!

Yeah., with the 1 tag offered for each hunt us NRs are raking residents over the coals. What UT makes in app fees for one tag is not ruining IT hunting. This crap about always attacking the NR is silly and stupid.
Correct. my wife and I have 27 moose ppoints and there's only 2 or 3 NR points tags issued. I better take a lot of Geritol if I'm going to last the 30 years it's going to take.

And the new elk plan is a total hose job for the NR unless you're at the very top of the point pool. no point tags for many units.

Agree. NR were hosed. I'm a resident, but had a son move out of state and noticed this with the elk changes.

He has 28 moose and 27 elk. Pretty tuff odds and some units Don't even have tags with the allotted number of tags.

Noticed the San Juan dropped to just 1 early rifle tag for NR. Ouch!!!

If it is supposed to be a 50:50 split between max points and everyone, why not do a coin flip before the draw for one tag hunts to see which way the one tag goes on one tag hunts? Or they could alternate years between the tag direction?

I feel like a huge loser. I had multiple email reminders, and even reminded my wife to apply, but I was so messed up with my dog being gone that I missed it. I didn’t get my app in for elk, or elk points, or my LL selection. Maybe on my LL they might send same as last year, but I screwed up on at least getting an elk point.
I’ve had such a crappy past 10 days!!!!

You can still purchase your buck/bull points during the Antlerless Application Period- June 5-19. Maybe give you a little relief.

Sorry about your dog. I had to put down our dog last Oct. It is a responsibility I've been thru 3 times now and it makes me question if I'm able to do it again. I didn't have much desire to kill anything on the remaining hunts last Fall.

Still Got A Pack!

But The Back Part Is In Rough Shape!:D

Bookcliffs Roadless Elk - 12 points (If I draw, I hope Bess has a good backpack).
La Sal Mountain Goat - 1 point
Kids and wife have a bunch of points but not even close to being in the max point pool.

Biggest mistake I’ve made was starting 2 of my sons with moose points.
