Quick question about quality of sheep in NM. What class rams do the best units produce? I’m considering applying in the next few years and don’t know much about the quality of Desert or RM Big Horns in NM. Don’t need units, just interested in what MM members have to say about potential?
Thx,
nk
I live in an area where there are some quality deer. I’d call them neighborhood bucks. We live in an area where 5 acres or more are the standard lot size. My home backs up to thousands of acres of private ranch land. With permission I could easily harvest a big buck but it wouldn’t be much of a...

Does anyone know of a good family camping area near fishing in unit 61? We camp on unimproved campgrounds with tents. 4wd and rough access is not a problem. Looking to have fun with the family doing some hiking, wildlife viewing and fishing. Also wanting to familiarize myself with the unit for...

LAST EDITED ON Nov-22-18 AT 05:01PM (MST)[p]Not a lot to share on this hunt. Found this guy 2 days before the hunt started. Scouted a total of 5 days. Checked does throughout the unit and pounded the area he was in. He showed up on Saturday. Took him at 100 yards. He?s a little short of my 180...
Hi all,
I don't post here much but I thought I'd see if anyone has some info. for me. I've searched the archives and I'm not coming up with much on the early hunt. I'm considering putting in for deer in CO unit 44 early season this year and I'm trying to get some information on herd quality...
I have a minor dilemma and I'm looking for thoughts on this years Colorado mule deer hunt. I have enough points to draw unit 70 4th season which I've hunted 3 times previously and had some success. I would probably only be able to scout five days before the hunt. Or I can draw a 4th season 511...
All, I'm a long time mm member, minimal poster. I'm looking to possibly hunt deer and elk in Idaho in the future. I have no points and will start building points this year. I'd like to draw every 5 years or so. I'm an experienced hunter and can hunt archery or rifle. I'm in good shape. I don't...

Just wanted all of you to know we have a new member who has joined our family. Miss Bailey Alexandra was born May 14th 2010. 7.1 lbs. 20 1/4 inches. I'm sure she will enjoy hunting and the outdoors as much as all of us do.

I used to get very detailed names of mountains, ridges, basins, etc. Does anyone know how to activate that feature in the layers? I've done extensive research on this topic but have failed to find out where they went. Any help would be appreciated.

This email is going around. Not sure if its been posted yet. This buck was taken in Southern AZ. Not sure of any other details.

Here is the story of my 2009 WY hunt. My best friend Dave and I spent 8 days in the field with a couple buddy's from Casper. We hunted hard and Dave was fortunate enough to take a nice 160 class 4x4 in the mountains on our 2nd day. The wind was gusting anywhere from 35 to 50 MPH so glassing was...
Does anyone shoot a 90 gr bullet in .270 and if so would it be ok for coues or antelope if loaded hot. I know its OK for coyotes and other varmints but I would love to use it for antelope and coues as well.

2009 Colorado Archery Elk
The Colorado archery elk season doesn't always start on opening day. This year I decided to spend more time in the areas I would be hunting elk with my bow during the summer months. Fortunately I was able to find an elk that interested me. Although there are bigger...
Well, it's been awhile since iv'e posted but i have frequented this website for about 6 years now and respect many of your opinions. I usually share my kills here on MM. I would enjoy sharing the story and pics of my 2009 CO archery elk hunt but I didn't find my bull until Friday of last week...
a buddy of mine with whom i put in with for WY told me his cc had been hit last week. does anyone know if WY G&F hits cc's prior to the drawing? i was under the impression they did not hit cc's unless you drew and the drawing would not happen until after the objectives were set. any other info...
Last night I was re-loading 7MM WSM ammo for the first time and I ran across a problem. On about 1/2 of my re-loads after I would seat the bullet they would, with the slightest downward pressure, slide right down into the brass. I measured the neck's diameter, length of cartridge and all were...
I have not studied the new regs. to closley but from what I can see the additional hunts that have been added in AZ are not in the best interest of deer managment. Of course I'm no pro, it's just my opinion. Any other thoughts???

Anyone have any comments on the Dry Plus material that Cabelas uses with the material they use? How does it compare to Rivers West, Gortex or Sitca gear. I know there isn't a 100% dry system but any info would be nice.

Anyone have experience with the Montec G5 drop away rests. I'm thinking about getting one and wanted some feedback. I searched for previous posting here and did not find much.

I searched the forums for info. on Parkas and I've come up with very little. I think I'v narrowed it down to 2 or 3. I'm looking for a Parka that will keep me warm in weather below 30 degrees, can withstand the wind and moisture. It doesn't have to be water proof but... Here are my choices and...
I notice a lot of tags being put on antlers here in Colorado. This is what is done in many other states but aren't Colorado tags carcass tags? Should they not be attached to the carcass and not to the antlers? I know some people attach them to the antlers because they transfer the head attached...
anyone know of good taxidermists in Colorado Springs/Denver area. I've lived here for a year and a half and the one taxi i've been to I was not impressed with.

Here is the story and pics of my 3rd season Southwestern Colorado buck.
I started my Colorado Mule Deer hunt with hopes of going 3 for 3. I'd shot a Bull Elk with my bow in September, an Antelope Buck with my rifle in October and now it was time for Mule Deer. I have found myself frequently...
Not much of a story on this one. I shot this buck on the second day of the hunt from 300 yards. Super windy conditions. There were 2 others bucks that I saw that were bigger in all the scouting and hunting I did. I'm happy with the buck and I'm now 2 for 2 with my tags this year! I can't wait...
Thought I would share a quick story about my first Colorado Bull Elk harvest.
Naturally I left my rain gear at home and not twenty minutes into the drive I found out it was going to be a cold and rainy day. My thoughts were, ahh ho cares it's a misty rain. So, onward I went and found myself in...
