They say elk seem to handle sever weather better than deer! Even though the winter is not over yet, does anyone think this year is going to be a problem for the for elk in any areas?

They are there get away from the lakes and roads go as remote as you can. I met up with a bull over 360 last year during archery and he came home with me.:cool:

When it comes to elk I have had better past performance with fixed cut on contact heads but at longer distances the mech. in general fly better. I used a Rage Trypan this year on a huge body elk shot him broadside sight quartering away. Cut totally through one rib, double lunged him and stopped...

I feel your excitement Mr. BullI, I drew 5BN early archery. My outfitter sent me pics of Bulls yesterday 8/17 that have already shed there velvet and others that are in the process. Come on Sept 9.

It's hard to train for the mountains when you live at Elevation 10 above sea level.

It is a good year to pull a tag. The bulls are most likely done with antler growth and will be rubbing off in the next 2 weeks, but they are still getting fat.

The internet shows the area around Flagstaff has fair moisture and the rest of the county is Moderate Drought. Any body have boots on the ground information?

Last the summer the water level was 75 feet lower and 150 yards from the end of the 1.5 mile public boat ramp at Antelope Point I think they have give up extending that ramp. Future doesn't look good for power boating on the Lake.

After 18 years I drew my Arizona elk tag and now I have it. I want to make the most of it, but also have the goal in mine of having fun. I have hired an outfitter, been shooting the bow for a month and have lost 8 pounds. Also I have convinced my wife to go RVing in Arizona for the 3 weeks...

Long time form reader first time posting. Finally have something worthwhile drew early archery in a premium unit. Looking for outfitter recommendations, my unit is in the Coconino.
