Life's about choices. Don't apply for LQ units that have 500 tags. When I Iook at places to apply for, I take hunt quality into account.

Is there science behind this or just opinion? I've hunted a lot of general season elk areas, and not one of them were overrun with raghorns. I have hunted 7 (LQ) a few times and saw a ton of raghorns along with great bulls. Some general season units produce good bulls year in and year out.

That is exactly the issue now in 7. I remember when area 7 had about 600 bull tags. I believe there are around 1,800 bull tags now with a 1,000+ cow tags. Sounds like a non issue to me. It's a general deer unit so let's make it general elk as well. It may even help the deer population by killing a bunch of the elk. Don't you usually hunt "wouldn't be decent" general deer seasons every year with success?

Drought and feed play a huge roll in allowing a buck to reach it's full potential. It always amazes me to see big deer when there is plenty of water and feed and then again in drought years.

Riding a Polaris you should carry a long tow strap, extra motor, and ride with a friend who owns a Honda so you can be pulled back to the truck. Just saying.

I'm in the same boat. Mine loves the Hornady 162 gr factory ammo. I wish Hornady would ramp up their production, but with the new 7 PRC I don't think it will happen. I will just reload with the same bullet when the time comes. Are you able to find bullets where you live? I have been finding them...
