Drone Trespass Bill, Mean anything to to the Corner Case?

The problem that won’t be resolved in legislation like this is drones have the ability to invade your personal space and privacy far more than someone simply trying to recreate on public land and crossing a corner. The corner crossing issue is simply fueled by greed.

    IDFG -- Wolf Population Stable

Almost all of these parcels are already pinned at the corner no need for any extra work. The landowners can’t move the existing pins either.

    Corner crossing case

If it isn’t surveyed and pinned the owners guess on where the corner is definitely isn’t any more accurate than any gps or onX location. I’d be willing to bet in court the gps or onX location would win that argument.

    Corner crossing case

Highfastflyer By your comments I’m assuming you believe that the property owners in this case should have exclusive access to all of the checkerboard public land within the ranch? I’d question how stepping directly across a corner or using a ladder as in this case because the ranch was...

    Corner crossing case

How is the accuracy any different if you’re crossing a corner or walking a property line. I’d think if F&G used it as a reliable way of traversing the public private borders it’d be considered reliable enough to cross a corner but maybe I’m missing something.

I thought usually with these blm grazing leases the ranchers don’t get an all access pass to drive around wherever they want on BLM land but maybe I’m wrong.

I agree I was happy to see there stance with some of the electronic devices available today. At some point you have to draw a line because everyone’s personal ethics are different and have seemed to decline over time with the desire for instant gratification from posting trophy photos online.

I don’t believe you can take possession of public land through adverse possession which would be a fence line that isn’t in the correct place like you can for a bordering private land piece. Also each state has different laws on how long it takes to use adverse possession and it’s generally the...

Prior to OnX making it too easy for everyone to do this I used to load gps coordinates for each corner section into my gps which was a very accurate way of finding corners so your above statement isn’t totally true.

I’ve never come across a corner of a blm section that wasn’t pinned but maybe there are some out there as I definitely haven’t seen anywhere near all of them.

    Youth Controlled Hunts

I’m not sure if youth get the jr mentored tag price without having an adult with a full price nonresident tag. I know for other hr mentored hunts the adult tag didn’t have to be for that unit necessarily but they did need one for that year.

    Corner crossing case

I’m hoping there isn’t a need for any easements and they rule that corner crossing is legal as it isn’t harming the landowners at all. I don’t think there’s an amount most of these landowners would be willing to take for a legal easement. Right now they get the benefit of having control and...

    Corner crossing case

I really doubt this would ever go as far as using imminent domain either unless the agency that owns the land had reason to push it that far because of needing access to the land which in reality they should have but apparently they don’t really care it seems like.
  19. N

    Corner crossing case

That may depend on how much the landowners are paying the judge behind closed doors or whether or not the judge has some other benefits from this. I think most imminent domain cases generally shoot for fair market value of the amount of land used. The only argument really that the landowner...

    Corner crossing case

Yea I’d agree that landowners can win eminent domain cases but if they don’t the price they’re paid is still set pretty much out of their control.

    Corner crossing case

I never said you could use eminent domain for this or that it’d ever work that’s just what the discussion was about concerning payment for an easement.
  22. N

    Corner crossing case

I thought the discussion was if eminent domain was being used. If that were the case the landowner doesn’t really have a choice. If it was a negotiated easement then yes the price tag would be extremely high because all that public land that they have exclusive access to is actually worth a lot...

    Corner crossing case

Most of North Dakota is flat as a pancake. In most western states roads have to twist and wind around to follow the terrain anyways. If they were going the easement route I don’t think it’s be any big deal to only gain access through the corner. I actually don’t feel there needs to be road...

    Corner crossing case

Why would there ever need to be an easement along a complete property line when it’s only needed at the corner? I don’t even think the easement is needed for foot travel but I guess if you want to include horses it’s probably be needed.

    Wanted, Dead or Alive

I shot a buck quartering away one time and the broadhead sliced the hide open from mid rib cage to the shoulder where it finally went in and was a dark shot. It really surprised me when I walked up to it as it looked like someone ran a knife across its rib cage.

    300 PRC question

I think some of the rifles chambered in 300 prc go that fast of a twist rate because of the options available now for 250+ grain bullets. I’ve shot 215’s and 225’s out of my 1:10 ultra mag without any issues but I’m not sure how it’d handle bullets heavier than that. From what I’ve seen 1:9 is...

    300 PRC question

I have an x-bolt in a different caliber that shoots extremely well. I actually think the factory triggers are pretty good for a factory trigger. ID Residents, did the new NR tag quotas make a difference?

2nd tags have such a small effect on deer numbers it isn’t even worth talking about in the overall management plan to recover herd numbers.

What effect will removing lion quota have?

I’ve never paid attention to how quickly the quotas were filled in the units that had quotas. If they were filling the quotas fairly quick then I’d say this will have a significant impact. If it was taking most of the year to fill the previous quota anyways then it probably won’t change things much.

ID Residents, did the new NR tag quotas make a difference?

That right there is a good enough reason not to raise fees for any tags in the state. That is absolutely mismanaging money in my opinion.
