My wife has a Starkey cow tag that starts the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I have hunted Starkey twice around the Tybow Cannon road. Is there any areas you would suggest to look at would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not familiar with the Steens but I would start off by calling the local wildlife biologist. Then start scouting as much as you can.

Bonepicker had some great advice. Lots of people hunt around Howards Prarie and Butte Falls. Very general areas but a starting point.

I have heard that the Tundra is also going to put a 5.0 Cummings engine in 2015. I bet those pickups will be expensive though.

Thinking of buying a new pickup. Anyone have a F-150 ecoboost? and what do you think of the pickup and engine? Or should I go with the 5.0 V8? I'm also open to other pickup suggestions.

No doubt the numbers are down, but I've seen larger bucks in the unit over the last five years than I had seen in the years leading up. Just a few areas to check out are the obvious ones like Camp 6 area, boulder creek and withworth creek. During archery season the deer are scattered all over...

If you have ten points don't burn them on Fort Rock. Decent unit if you get away from the roads but I wouldn't even burn 1 point there. If you have ten I would look at a late season muzzy hunt over in the desert.

Are you talking about National Forest type campgrounds? I've always found a nice place off of a secondary dirt road and camp there. Thompson Reservoir isn't really that far away but still some distance.

I would hunt around Yamsey Mt.

Lived in Klamath for 28 years and to tell you I have seen very few elk in the woods in the Klamath unit. I've seen a few in the winter time around Swan Lake, and the dry prarie area. Good luck thats a very tough hunt. Grant

I've talked to a few biologist and they all say the units around Hart Mt are producing better bucks than Hart Mt. They claim that the nutrition isn't as good up top as it is below.

Just curious if anyone has hunted Beatty's Butte for deer latley. I use to bow hunt this area around Blizzard Gap outside of Adel a little bit in the early 2000's. Last time I hunted it was 2004 and it wasn't that great. Just curious if anyone has had any luck in that are latley.
