I would try blackhorn 209 powder, I had good accuracy with thor bullets and hornady fpb's out of my omega. if you use thor's order early though because he tends to run low on certain weights.

I spoke with many outfitters last year including steve chappell and a3. both great guys. I ended up going with greg Krogh and had an excellent hunt. The reason I chose him was because he knew from the first day I spoke with him, who would be my guide and let me speak with him directly.

My dad is considering burning 12 points on a third season tag. He is almost seventy years old. I was just wondering what your thoughts were on the unit. Is it worth 12 points? Is the terrain suitable for a guy his age? If not, can you recommend another unit that might be better? Thanks.

I hunted there a few years back. northern part is public, southern checkerboarded with private, plenty of antelope on public. message me and I can give you more details.

be happy that Colorado allows you to retain your points. I made a mistake on my application in Arizona, it cost me 8pts, $650, and cost someone else a tag that they may have wanted. The $650 I can handle more than losing the points.

I had good luck with hornady fpb's last year. I shot good groups out to 200yds. I ended up shooting my muley at 186 yds. I used bh209 and a William's peep site. thor's also shot well, but you have to make sure you get plenty to start with because they were back ordered before season last year...

It was a mistake. A major mistake on my part. I entered the wrong hunt code and applied for an antlerless tag. I wondered how I could have drawn. Sucks, now im out 5 pts and will have a tag I dont want and cant return.

I was reading about the new license structure and it states that the license is now good for 1 year from the time of purchase instead of the calender year. so could you get 2 years of applying with one license if you were just applying for the elk draw. thanks

hunted there couple years ago. nice area. lots of antelope at that time, not a trophy behind every rock, like people seem to expect, but they're there if your patient and persistent. If i were to draw again i would archery hunt it.

ya I agree. transferring points is crazy. I am just saying if they were going to let you transfer anything it should be the tag after you have used your points to draw it. I would love to draw a good license and give it to my son someday

It would be okay if they let you transfer your tag to youth like arizona does

I am planning a hunt for elk in unit 67 1st rifle season around powderhorn. Has anyone hunted that unit. How are the numbers of elk in that area? Would we be better to hunt toward the south end of the unit. Thanks for any info
