Thanks - I agree with you that Preference Point systems are the worst by far. I am not sure how I feel about the all random approach - has some merit for sure. I do think Utah's 50:50 BP/Random approach for LE/OIL is the best compromise of all the systems out there currently.

I would take the Beaver mid-season rifle tag over all units every day and twice on Sundays if it were me.

The last deer I killed in Utah was in 2014 on a general muzzy tag on the Boulder unit (have killed several deer in Colorado and AZ since then). I am way past the point of "needing" to kill a deer, but I couldn't care less about what other hunters do that have a tag and do it legally...

You are 100% right on that one - though the "guiding" "controlling" and "owning" in Utah comes from one source...SFW and other special interest groups . Until that changes, Biologists can only do so much.

I have loved the meat from my Utah bighorn sheep. The tenderloins were some of the best wild game meat I have ever had. Definitely put it in the top 3 of wild game meats for me (Sheep, Pronghorn, Elk)

Yes you can - change it as many times as you want before the app deadline for no additional charge. This is a great change - I hated that they used to charge you a new app fee every time you wanted to change something. Kudos to the DWR for adding tags on units where survival rates are high and...

The numbers weren’t final last year before the app deadline either. The difference now (starting last year) is that they post the PROPOSED tag #’s before the deadline, which is typically what gets passed by the Wildlife Board in most cases.

Just make sure you apply before your license expires and you’re good. You don’t even need to buy a new one during the actual hunt dates if you draw-only has to be valid when you apply/buy your point.
