For my kids in this state they will never ever be able to catch up to the rest of us for a coveted elk, pronghorn or coveted tag..not a fair system for the newer hunter. As for the mass of new applicants..I personally think all the free money handed out to anyone and everyone is a major factor...

Everyone will tell you to do some leg work and start off by calling a biologist or two. Then go scout it. Long unit with elk spread out. Most hunters will be in the very NW corner. Good luck.
