    Potential World Record?

    Be pretty impressive year this year if this does officially beat the current world record and the muzzy buck from CO does the same thing. Two potential world records waiting to be officially scored.

    newby need AZ 13B advice

    First of all, congrats on drawing your tag with one point. That alone should tell you that luck might be on your side for this hunt! It's been a banner year down there in Southern Utah and Northern Arizona this year. Lots of rain this summer had made horn growth fantastic. Any updates?

    Two giant bucks! Doesn't happen very often that one camp has two 200" bucks on the ground, much less DIY with a bow! Very cool! Thanks for sharing!

    How Long Until...

    Interesting question here. It sure seems as though Antelope Island has the potential to produce some deer of the caliber we are talking here. It also brings up the question of which Pope and Young world record deer is more likely to be broken first....typical or nontypical...?? Thoughts?

    Opinions on what a reasonable Pauns buck would be this year?

    This year has been a banner year down in southern Utah. A lot of rain during the summer seems to have optimized antler growth down in the "desert" part of the state. I don't recall ever seeing as many 200" bucks as I have seen posted up from Utah. Should be a good hunt for you. Aim for the 180"...

    Archery Elk Success

    Yep. That's him. The one and only. Mike is unreal. I had the privilege of tagging along with Mike for a few days during this hunt and believe me, it was an education and an experience I could never put a price on. One of the all-time great archery elk hunters and even more impressive, one of...

    Archery Elk Success

    Had a great archery elk hunt last week in Wyoming. I got lucky and connected on a nice 7x7. My friend Matt Bateman smoked a nice 6x6 and our friend Stevie Krahenbuhl also killed a good bull. Mike Lowry passed numerous bulls, hoping to punch his tag on a big herd bull. In the end, 3 of the four...

    Archery 200' Typical Goes Down;

    Thanks Wildman for your kind words. Much appreciated. Yeah Matt and I are definitely not Rollin in the Dough ($$$) Our hunts are always DIY public land general season tags. That's about all we can afford. But I think there's a lot of guys here on MM who fall into that category. And, truth be...

    Young Guns Filling Tags

    Was a proud Dad after this weekend. Took my sons down to the southern end of the state to try and get their archery tags filled in some of my old stompin' grounds. Sunday night my 13 year old son Preston made a perfect 50 yard heart-shot on his first ever animal with a bow. The buck was down in...

    LAST EDITED ON Sep-04-15 AT 10:50PM (MST)[p]Thanks for the kind comments everyone. Some of you have PM'd me and asked questions regarding how we (Me or Matt) decide who kills which animal. Well, the answer is quite simple. Matt and I trust each other like brothers and treat our hunting set-ups...

    Archery 200' Typical Goes Down;

    I was extremely disappointed this year to learn that I had not drawn an early archery tag in the state of Utah. I was still excited to do lots of scouting and hunting with my good friend, Matt Bateman. I told Matt about a month ago that I was starting to "get a good vibe" about his hunt.... I...

    Two big spring bears

    a few guys here on MM have sent me PMs asking about the chart we use to estimate a bears weight using tail-to-nose length measurements and girth measurements (girth under the armpits). I have attached it below. Hope this helps. Kip

    Two big spring bears

    In answer to your question Longbow6360 regarding how we get an accurate measurement of our bears weight: I carry a flexible sewing tape/tape-measure with me in my backpack. When we get a bear down and before you cape them out, you take a tight nose-to-tail measurement and a tight girth...
