remember that you have to have a valid buck or bull tag for the same area that you are using the control tags. But if I remember right you purchased a general archery elk tag, so you should be good to go.

I have been on both ends. I have received a surrendered elk tag. Turns out it was a friend's wife that was having a baby. I also surrendered an antelope tag last year when I injured my shoulder. I think it is great that they allow us to surrender/receive tags.

I have received a surrendered permit. Good on ya for turning it in early. When I got mine I had 2 months to scout and actually knew the person that turned in the tag!

Ive seen a few pic of bears on the San Juan. Not mine to share, but a friend sent me one of a nice blonde and a cinnamon color phase.

Returned General Season tags do not get redistributed. You can exchange for a different tag if there is one available after the draws, which doesn't give you much of an option.
